If you are a woman working in or are a woman interested in getting into technology then you have come to the right place. Likewise if you are a company looking to attract, recruit and retain more women into your technology teams, then you need to speak to one of the womenintechnology.co.uk team.
We work with companies to put diversity at the forefront of their recruitment and employment policies, in part by helping them recruit more female technologists. We provide a complete recruitment service, offer a dedicated online IT job board, regularly host and co-host networking events, run personal development and career orientated training courses and provide in-depth news and information about key matters affecting the IT industry and the people who work within it.
We help job seekers make their next career move and can offer advice on getting back into work after a career break, putting together a CV and handling interviews successfully. We’ve got all the best jobs with the UK’s leading companies, for women seeking employment at every level from graduate to CIO. We also provide access to free industry networking events, to forums and groups made up of like minded people and to our weekly e-Newsletter.
Our History
We launched womenintechnology on International Women’s Day in March 2005 as an information portal for female technologists.
Within a week of the launch, we were approached by companies who wanted to advertise their IT jobs on the website. Within four months, we set up a job board. On the day it went live, we planned a networking event – but sadly it fell on July 7th 2005; the same day as the London bombings. We rescheduled the launch networking night for two months later and welcomed over 200 women to the first of many successful networking events.
Since then the job board has gone from strength to strength. There is now a dedicated graduate zone and we’re actively working with companies to help them attract more applications from female technologists.
We’ve run over 30 networking events covering topics such as “Political Savvy for Women in IT”, “How to get ahead in IT - successful career strategies for women in technology” and “Powerful Conversations - Successful Negotiation Skills for Women”.
In early 2007 we started running full day training courses and in 2008 we added evening sessions to our training calendar too. All of the topics, for example “Women Don’t Ask”, “Building Up Your Confidence“ and “Be the Strategic Networker”, are aimed at helping women build successful and rewarding careers in the IT and technology industry. In 2009 we started a recruitment consultancy service for candidates
looking to work and for companies looking to recruit within the technology
space. The recruitment team now has three members and is continuing to grow.
