OUR CULTURE
Since its inception, Accenture has been governed by its core values. They shape the culture and define the character of our company, guiding how we behave and make decisions:
Stewardship: Building a heritage for future generations, acting with an owner mentality, developing people everywhere we are, and meeting our commitments to all internal and external stakeholders.
Best People: Attracting and developing the best talent for our business, stretching our people and developing a "can do" attitude.
Client Value Creation: Improving our clients' business performance, creating long-term, win-win relationships and focusing on execution excellence.
One Global Network: Mobilizing the power of teaming to deliver consistently exceptional service to our clients anywhere in the world.
Respect for the Individual: Valuing diversity, ensuring an interesting and inclusive environment, and treating people as we would like to be treated ourselves.
Integrity: Inspiring trust by taking responsibility, acting ethically, and encouraging honest and open debate.

At Accenture, we believe our commitment to building, maintaining and expanding an inclusive culture is central to our organisation's ongoing success. Our approach to inclusion and diversity stems from a twofold desire: to live and work in one world, free from the constraints of geographical barriers or cultural perceptions, and to seek innovative practices that bring additional flexibility to the workplace.
We strive to create a working environment that is founded on a positive approach to relationships with others, where individual differences are honored and valued. Respect for the individual is one of our company's core values, reminding us all to treat people as we would like to be treated ourselves. We have confidence in the varied skills and talents of our people, and we know how these qualities can ably transform companies and enable them to achieve to high performance.
To encourage diversity in our organisation we sponsor a range of internal and external initiatives aimed at specific employee populations. In particular, we foster networking groups and societies including gender, parents, ethnicity, enablement, sexual orientation, religion and belief and age. More information on these can be found in our diversity section.
A visible shift in diversity is taking place in our own organisation, where differences in elements such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, and physical attributes meld with the invisible-attributes such as work experience, marital status, educational background, parental status, income, religious beliefs and affiliations, geographic location, or socioeconomic status. Such aspects ultimately drive how people behave in situations and shape an individual's "personal" diversity. Although a clear strategy has helped define a history of successful growth, it is the unique skills and talents of Accenture people that excites the marketplace and offers innovative solutions to our clients.
CLUBS, SOCIETIES & NETWORKING GROUPS
We know how daunting it can be to join a huge organisation like Accenture, so we make a real effort to make you feel at home from day one. For instance, when you join we’ll put you in touch with other new joiners. Plus there are plenty of formal and informal groups you can become part of throughout your time with us.
Networking groups
We’re incredibly diverse culturally, academically and geographically, and this is one of our greatest strengths as an organisation. To help you get together with like-minded people and share your experiences, we support a wide range of networking groups. Groups include, and cover, gender, ethnicity, enablement, sexual orientation, religion and belief, age, and parents.
Pre-joining
The welcome starts even before you join – our pre-joiners site, The Waiting Room, has lots of information on what you need to do to prepare and can answer many of your initial questions. It’s also a great place to hook up with people who, like you, are about to join us.
Start group
Join our Consulting arm and you’ll be part of a Start Group. These are the people who started at the same time as you, and you’ll go through the initial training and induction together.
Communities
Whichever part of the business you join, you’ll immediately be part of an Accenture ‘community’. Typically drawn from your Industry Group (commonly referred to as Client Service Group or CSG), business or skills area, this is an immediate network of like-minded people and should be a valuable support in the early days. Plus there are plenty of professional and social activities on offer which are a great way to get to meet people and really feel part of the team in no time at all.
Orientation
Once you join, the orientation process kicks in straightaway. It’s designed to help you meet your future colleagues and to tell you about day-to-day issues like processes, tools and IT packages.
Additionally, there are a number of clubs and societies, which have been set up by employees of Accenture. These include a Hockey Club, Women’s’ Rugby Club, Music Society, Ski Racing and Yacht Club. Each of these clubs organise various events as agreed by members of the club and Accenture. This may includes tournaments, visits or events being organised to allow members to share their personal interest together in the work environment.
FLEXIBLE WORKING
Accenture supports flexible working and provides opportunities for all employees to apply for flexible working, not just those with a statutory right to apply. All regular full and part-time employees who are performing at a satisfactory level may request a flexible work arrangement. Flexible work arrangements provide employees with an opportunity to achieve a personal and professional balance. These options enhance Accenture's ability to attract and retain best people thereby supporting the business strategy.
Several flexible work options are supported, varying in scope and implementation by country:
Flex Time
A flex time schedule allows people to vary their start and finish times around predetermined "core hours.” Flex time may also enable an employee to work his/her standard hours in fewer than five days by varying the length of each workday. This schedule may be used by someone who has, for example, standing daily commitments during regular working hours, such as dropping-off or picking-up a child from school or by someone who would benefit from having an additional day away from the office.
Part Time
A part-time arrangement enables an employee to work less than a standard full-time schedule per week. This can be accomplished by either working fewer hours per day, or fewer days per week. Usually the employee’s role is designed around a reduced workload so that job responsibilities match the number of hours worked. This type of arrangement has often worked well for people who have decided to give priority to other commitments in their lives, but still wish to continue working.
Job Sharing
A job-sharing arrangement usually involves dividing the workload of a full-time position between two people (usually each working a part-time schedule). Job-sharing is a great way for our people to keep on the career track while allowing them more time outside of work.
Telecommuting/Home working
Telecommuting/home working enables an individual to work from a location other than an Accenture office or project site. While some employees telecommute/work from home regularly, others use this option on a more ad hoc basis as the need arises. This arrangement can reduce the time, costs and stress of commuting for the employee while helping Accenture control and in some cases reduce the cost of fixed office space.
Working away from home location
Work/life balance is also an issue where significant professional travel is involved, which is often the case for many of our consulting people. Fly-backs and client-site flexible work arrangements help our professionals balance work and life when they are working away from their home location.
