Women in business
What to wear in the workplace has been a hot topic in recent times. With the lines between smart and casual ever blurry, many women struggle with the “what to wear” scenario in the absence of a formal dress code. Are suits the way to go? Can a smart dress ever really be smart? This month I waded in on the debate with my own personal preference in
Red magazine
. Here’s what I had to say:
‘I don’t own a single suit - I gave up wearing them years ago – but I love dresses. I have a mix of styles, but my favourites are the ones that are smart, well-fitted and absolutely appropriate for a work environment. I usually dress them up with a bold, chunky necklace.
I feel so much more “me” in a dress, and when I feel more “me”, I feel strong and ready to tackle whatever work is going to throw at me.’
Other women found that high heels put them in a fighting frame of mind, or that diamonds really are their best friend in the workplace.
