Women in business
The gender pay gap for full time work is 16.4%, that’s according to the Government Equalities Office. This figure remains high despite measures by the government to address the issue of gender discrimination.
I recently received an email from
Intellect
, the body representing the UK’s technology industry, about their
Women in IT Forum
. Here at womenintechnology.co.uk, we support initiatives that aim to help women in business and the Women in IT Forum do just this. The Equality Act is set to come into force in October, although the coalition government is reviewing certain parts and deciding exactly what to implement. A key area for discussion will be the Act’s equal pay measures with the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats disagreeing on this issue prior to the election.
The Women in IT Forum is aiming to work alongside the coalition government to tackle the issue of gender discrimination and have issued a
2010 Equal Pay Survey
to help them do so. The survey is anonymous and the results will help the Women in IT Forum determine the level of pay gap. So if you have a few minutes why not take part in it?
The survey can be found
here
, and the results will be revealed in September.
