Employment Law Advice Session with Kervin & Barnes

Date: Tuesday 25th May 2010, 5.30pm to 7pm

The perceived complexity of the procedures involved in a “capability dismissal” invariably lead employers to look to more straight forward dismissal options such as conduct and redundancy.  Not only is this inherently risky, it removes a very effective management tool.  Performance review procedures should form an essential and integral part of general performance management.

This session covered issues around performance management including:
  • Informal and formal processes
  • Target setting
  • The obligation to assist the employee
  • Timescales
  • Alternatives to dismissal
  • The performance standards that are acceptable/unacceptable
  • Effective performance management policies.
