Thank you so much to everyone who came along to the 'Clever Decision Making' event which we co-hosted with Bank of America Merrill Lynch on Tuesday 27th October - there was a really good turnout with only a few spare seats in the room and it was great to see so many familiar faces. This was the fourth networking event that we have co-hosted with Merrill Lynch (now Bank of America Merrill Lynch) and we'd like to thank them for their ongoing support of and commitment to womenintechnology.co.uk.
I would like to pass on our thanks to our keynote speaker Julia Thrul, founder of V.G.L. Ltd., who shared tips and hints about how to effectively handle decision making, including being aware of your own decision making habits, understanding what influences your decision making and creating a set of questions to help you reach a decision. A copy of Julia's presentation can be downloaded by clicking here. Julia is a specialist on managerial skills development and career management and offers bespoke services to individuals as well as to private, public and charity sector organisations. If you are interested in finding out more about the services Julia offers you can contact her on 020 7928 8339 or at julia@vgl-ltd.co.uk. Our thanks also goes to our Bank of America Merrill Lynch panellists - Jane Phillips, Head of Enterprise Tools and Strategy, and Chief of Staff, Enterprise Technology & Delivery and June West, EMEA Payments & Branch Operations Executive and to panellist Paul Edwards, IT Consultant at Citi (previously Global Head of Production Services and Regional Technology Head for Asset Management at Credit Suisse) for sharing his view on making clever decisions. The key takeaways from the panel session were that the biggest decisions anyone makes at work are those that affect other people, making sure you ask the right questions to get the information you need to make a decision, being a "Yes, and..." person rather than a "Yes, but..." person, and not suffering from the "What if..." disease. We would also like to thank Anzela Huq from Bank of America Merrill Lynch for her help and input in bringing last night's event together and for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's ongoing support of womenintechnology. If you are interested in finding out about opportunities at Bank of America you can search for open roles here.
Final thanks go to everyone who attended and who continue to support womenintechnology.co.uk. We would very much like to hear your feedback from last night so we would really appreciate it if you could take the time to fill in our short feedback survey so we can improve on future events and use your suggestions to put together some fantastic events for 2010. |
