Graduate - Information Developer 2010

As an Information Developer in our Software Development Lab, it is your job to unleash the power of IBM’s products. You will be responsible for creating the documentation to explain to an end user how to use a software product. This can be in the form of an online information centre, web page, wizards or animated product tours. It will be up to you to help craft the most appropriate resource to help customers use the product.

You will also have opportunities to get involved in all sorts of projects, like the design of the information architecture, the development of the tools that you use, or the technical processes that you use to produce your information. Technical writing, visual design, project management – are all aspects of the role of an Information Developer.

The majority of our Information Development roles are based at our Software Development Lab in Hursley near Winchester. Set in a beautiful countryside location, Hursley is IBM’s largest software development laboratory in Europe. Pushing the boundaries of technology in an increasingly demanding world is a way of life at IBM Hursley. It has a relaxed, creative atmosphere that some liken to a university campus. Dynamic and inventive, people working here submit scores of patent applications every year. With a worldwide reputation for innovative products and services, IBM Hursley plays a key role in helping our clients.

You do not need to have a Computer Science or IT-related degree to join our graduate scheme as an Information Developer, but you do need to be comfortable working in a technical environment and have a passion for technology. You should have first class communication skills as you will need to be able to relate technical concepts to non technical people. You should also be client focussed and have good team skills. You need to have a logical thought process and be able to work creatively.

All applicants must be permanently eligible to work in the UK or hold an HSMP or Tier 1 (General) visa.

All applicants must have achieved or be predicted a 2:1 bachelors degree or above (or equivalent) in any degree discipline.

Required
  • Pre-University qualification

IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
