Our Customer Information Systems division plays a major part in this current and anticipated future success. Part of this includes the full responsibility for the development, test and deployment of all IT systems driving forward the online business at Sky. This includes all of our web properties which working hand-in-hand with the business, we are busy delivering Sky's portal vision: To become the No. 1 web destination in the UK.
We are looking for a Scrum Master to work as part of Sky ID. This product stream completes work for all the Online teams wanting to utilise Sky iD which includes our Customer Group, Online Business Unit and Sky Sports amongst others. Sky iD is our online registration (Sign In and Sign Up) so as well as continuous improvement work to the product, the team also works to ensure smooth integration with many other teams and their products.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Using an effective leadership style, work with the team to identify and mitigate issues and risks, manage external dependencies, manage flow of key information to the team and use coaching and mentoring to support and motivate the team towards maximum performance
Drive the effective application of Scrum and instil best practice in the team including test driven development, continuous integration and pair programming
Provide regular status updates on current development activities at appropriate levels of detail for stakeholders, technical teams and the wider business.
Facilitate the day to day process of software product development and delivery to ensure agreed process is adhered to.
Coordinate and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, planning games, showcases, and retrospectives.
Establish a Product Charter that communicates a common vision and criteria for success for the product and establishes reasonable, challenging and clear expectations for the team
Suitable candidates will have the following skills & experience:
A strong technical aptitude coupled with excellent communication skills and business acumen in equal measure.
Experience of using formal agile software development methods in a commercial environment and successful software product delivery
Experience of managing budgets and project finances of £1 million +
Experience of line management including appraisals, Professional Development Plans, and recruitment.
Ideally your experience will have been gained in a consumer / public focused web environment that relies on high availability and high transactional services and ideally previous experience with services this team manages
Mentoring skills that demonstrate the agile values and principles
Effective organisation skills, effective decision making and conflict resolution and a positive collaborative approach.
Strong knowledge and keen interest in emerging tools and technologies in the industry
Ideally a Certified Scrum Master or a consulting background in agile methods.
