Application Innovation Services Information Architect, IBM Interactive

IBM Interactive, a growing interactive design practice within one of the world's largest and most respected technology companies, seeks experienced, enthusiastic, and professional Information Architect/User Experience Designer for high profile consulting projects. The Information Architect is responsible for implementing user-centred design principles and methods; performing user interface design activities such as developing personas, user scenarios/journeys, navigation flows and wireframes; and conducting usability assessments such as contextual inquiry, heuristic evaluations, user research, and usability testing.

General skill set required
  • Extensive, recent experience designing, developing and delivering interactive applications through all phases of the application development lifecycle. 
  • Prior experience as an Information Architect working on complex interactive projects including user interface approaches/frameworks, design principles support, high-level content organization / taxonomies, navigation design and wireframing, content sourcing rules (including dynamically generated content), and high and low-level information design guidelines for all interface elements 
  • Client presentation and consulting skills in the design and development of foundational work products such as heuristic evaluations, personas, user scenarios/journeys, functional requirements, feature maps, use case models, usability requirements, and other core requirements and positioning documents. 
  • Extensive experience with Visio and/or other screen design or prototyping tools. 
  • Abilty to work well and communicate effectively with diverse teams of technical architects, creative directors/visual designers, and rich media developers.
As this is a client-facing role, the candidate should have experience working with a variety of clients at all levels of an organisation as well as a level of comfort facilitating workshops and client meetings. 
  • Has developed relationships of mutual trust with people inside and outside of their organisation based on respect, integrity, positive regard and an appreciation of the uniqueness of the individual 
  • Willingness to commit non-project time to develop themselves, and other individuals, teams, and the IBM Interactive community within IBM. 
  • Fluent English. Based in the UK, but willing to work across UK and Ireland with some international travel.

Additional information
Desirable Skills
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Human-Computer Interaction or Information Design. 
  • Experience with prototyping tools such as Axure or iRise. 
  • Experience with interaction design for mobile applications. 
  • Experience estimating engagement effort, duration and resources.
