Application Programmer, Global Corporate and Commercial Investment Banking Technology (GCCIBT), VP

Role Responsibilities 
  • Working with a 3rd party vendor package 
  • Supporting custom extends to this package 
  • Working closely with offshore resources 
  • Liaising with internal customers and other stakeholders to help refine requirements, produce estimates, review test plans etc... 
  • Work in partnership with technical lead to design and implement new functionality – typically based on Cobol/DB2, IMS and VM. 
  • Creating/Updating application documentation 
  • Coding, Unit Testing and Component Integration Testing 
  • Provide support during user acceptance testing 
  • Ensuring timeliness and quality of deliverables

Skill Requirements
Essential

  • Significant experience as a programmer, analyst/designer in a financial environment
  • A proven track record for developing and implemented integrated tooling solutions supporting the software development lifecycle
  • Proven Cobol experience
  • Proven DB2 experience
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel)
  • Must be able to work under pressure, juggle multiple projects, use own initiative and motivation to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision
  • Excellent spoken and written English, clear oral communication skills; must be willing and able to express new ideas, concerns and opinions directly to wider team in team meetings via teleconference
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are essential; must be pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible, and results driven Able to integrate well within a larger development team, including offshore colleagues and suppliers

Desirable

  • Knowledge of client billing applications is highly desirable, ideally Infopoint
  • Experience in using software configuration management systems (e.g. Perforce)
  • Experience with Agile / eXtreme Programming project methodologies
  • Experience in working with colleagues in other locations

A vacancy exists for a Programmer/Analyst within the Global Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (GCCIBT) team located in Croydon. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining Bank of America’s International Billing Application which consists of a core vendor Billing package and custom extensions providing input data feeds, outgoing interfaces and client statements. The application operates on a broad set of technologies and platforms, including mainframe(Z/OS), COBOL, DB2, IMS,VM and Java and supports a network of international billing Bank of America branches spread cross many countries of the world.
