Bank of America Merrill Lynch Commodities is a global organization with major trading centres in Houston , London and Singapore . The global offices currently trades both physical and financial commodities, including Natural Gas, Power, Coal, Crude and Products, Structured Notes and Commodity Index. The IT department has a headcount of approximately 200, working both in Houston and London , as well as an India division
A team of 16 business analysts located in both Houston and London servicing a global project portfolio. Partnering with Project and Development managers, Business Stakeholders and the QA team, the BA’s role is to act as subject matter expert (SME) and work with business owners and delivery work streams to develop optimal solutions
Role Responsibilities
This role will focus on business analysis across both the Sales and Trader and Market Data initiatives, specifically the Curve Engine application. Curve Engine is the strategic tool for trader price and volatility curve management to all Commodity in house and vendor trading applications.
This role will involve establishing requirements across all products and trading desks for Front Office, Finance and Middle Office to ensure technology deliver a normalized and efficient method for publishing and distributing pricing data in a low-cost maintenance model. In addition, there is a need to define and deliver strategic curve management tools to key stakeholders and partner with the market data team to ensure a fully integrated solution is delivered with regards reference and market data in general.
Working closely with the trading desks, quants, middle office/finance and development team, demonstrate strong understanding of curve management and market data while capturing requirements
Develop a sound knowledge of all business areas and the effect of the requested changes will have on technology and business day-to-day workings.
Manage and communicate requirements across London locations (City and Canary Wharf), and across global offices (Houston, New York and Singapore)
Work with business owners and development managers to understand current processes and prioritise requirements.
Work with project manager to plan analysis work and highlight risks and issues.
Work with QA test manager, act as a SME and ensure all use cases are in place
Identifying common threads across products/desks and identify synergies
Skill Requirements
Essential:
Significant Business analysis experience in a financial organisation
Strong understanding of market data, e.g. Price Curves, Vol Surfaces, Fixing data, Correlation Matrices etc Commodity product experience
Experience working with traders, quants and senior dev leads
Financial Commodities or Rates experience
Delivery focused
Excellent communication skills
Excellent documentation skills
Strategic thinker
Desirable:
Good working knowledge of LIM, Platts, Argus and other vendors
Exotic and Physical experience
Good working knowledge of Ref Data
