Business Analyst

Summary
We now have another opportunity to join our dedicated BA's in Business Development, Strategy and Wholesale.

Business Development and Wholesale launch new Mobile Virtual Network Operators and other business partnerships to market. As a business analyst in this team you’ll work with senior stakeholders within the partner organisation and Vodafone, to scope the projects turning a concept into a solution that we can implement simply and quickly.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring that the full breadth of processes to operate the partnership are defined and understood, ensuring the partners needs are met and the process is cost effective for Vodafone to operate.

Essence of Role
1. Define the scope of the business partnership or joint development opportunity. 
  • Lead the analysis activity on the project, managing other analysts as required, Influence /support solution design and testing activities 
  • Analyse and influence the development of the contractual framework of the business partnership. 
  • Challenge and influence the development of the proposition in collaboration with the partner organisation to minimise delivery complexity and maximise returns. 
  • Lead refinement of the Operational Model for the partnership 
  • Drive the analysis, and communicate Business Options to resolve any doubt about the option which delivers the most effective Operational Model for the partnership

2. Requirements Management 
  • Influence the Partner to define and refine their vision, customer experience and operating model. Define and agree sufficient scope to enable the impact on Vodafone to be determined. 
  • Refine the proposition and operating model with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in both businesses. Record a set of requirements agreed and signed off by the partner that define what Vodafone will deliver to the Partner and are aligned with the contract and revenue expectation. 
  • Lead the analysis and capture of detailed functional and non-functional requirements from all internal business stakeholders and communicate these in a way that facilitates design, implementation and acceptance 
  • Review and sign off requirements produced by internal or external suppliers confirming that they meet the needs of the business and the contract 
  • Maintain separation of contractual, joint and internal requirements within DOORS

3. Process Management 
  • Accountable for the definition and agreement of the processes that are needed to operate the partnership. 
  • Responsible for the production and agreement of the joint Operations Manual recording the operation processes 
  • Lead business process stakeholders to re-engineer or design new joint and internal business processes 
  • Drive the design and documentation of the process changes required in the Vodafone organisation

4. Contribute to the overall success of project delivery 
  • Influence the project process they are working within; full accountability for managing the analysis work packages. 
  • Provide pro-active support to other people in the project team 
  • Challenge to ensure delivery of an appropriate solution to the business requirements 
  • Be prepared to cover for other team members should the need arise

5. Stakeholder Management 
  • Ensure that the business partner is capable of delivering and operating what they must do to make the partnership a success using personal influence and appropriate escalation
  • Ensure that all internal stakeholders channels are:
  • Bought into the strategy and goals of the project
  • Provided with sufficient information and guidance to deliver the business development project.

6. Promote Continuous Improvement 
  • Champion and build frameworks to drive out generic requirements to support the ongoing activity of Business Development 
  • Pro-actively drive business improvement in Vodafone and the Partner organisation 
  • Keep abreast of industry best practice in analysis techniques and demonstrate application within Vodafone and Partner organisation 
  • Identify and promote improvements to the business analysis methodology

7. Operational Support 
  • Support in-life analysis for operational or new project activity 
  • Maintain the Operations Manual 
  • Promote learning across partnerships to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation of Business Development and Wholesale.

Role Dimension 
  • Ability to work at all levels within Partner organisations from Board Directors to operational staff without prejudicing Vodafone’s interests 
  • Ability to work effectively and influence all levels in Vodafone from Business and Technical Professionals to Senior Manager and Director maintaining the appropriate level of Partner confidentiality 
  • Able to coach and manage other analysts within projects and in the BD team

Typical Outputs 
  • Build a professional relationship with the partner, instilling confidence in the solution and acting as an ambassador for Vodafone 
  • Work independently as the lead Analyst on major projects with the following dimensions

Impacts over 50% of the business functions
requires new business processes
requires organisational change
substantial change to operations and commercial models
High Risk in more at least one dimension (commercial, time, technical, strategic…)

Technical/Professional Expertise
Professional Qualification (degree or significant industry experience)
Significant industry experience with evidence of performing analysis in a contractual environment.
Excellent inter-personal and communications skills
Excellent analytical skills (listening, questioning, challenging, modelling etc.)
Excellent process design skills (process modelling, re-engineering etc.)
Able to provide consultancy in business analysis and give educational support to Vodafone staff.
Able to chair and manage large workshops
Good working knowledge of Vodafone’s products and/or business enabling technologies within a specific area
At least 2 years experience of end to end solution development in an operator environment or similar
