Business Analytics & Optimization Solution Architect

In 2009 IBM Global Business Services launched a new consulting service line called Business Analytics and Optimization bringing together skills from across the organisation into a major new team. The BAO Service Line will be enabled by a network of Analytics Solution Centres. Five initial centres will be located in Tokyo, London, New York City, Beijing and Washington, D.C.

We currently have opportunities for BAO Solution Architects covering one or more of the areas within our Business Analytics and Optimisation service line. These areas include data warehousing, master data management, advanced anaytics and enterprise content management.

Architects take a major position in our delivery projects, advising on the overall scope, design and implementation approach, and identifying and avoiding potential problems. In this role the ideal candidates are likely to have practical experience delivering BAO projects in a variety or roles, before taking on the responsibility as architect. You will have good awareness of different solution types, and of some of the underlying theoretical concepts.

You are also likely to be able to advise clients on one or more of the following: 
  • Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse strategy and delivery 
  • Master Data Management and Single Version of Truth 
  • Enterprise Content Management 
  • Data Governance

During implementation, our architects typically work closely with senior client management. During business development architects are also involved in shaping proposals and presenting our technical capability to clients. As a result strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Increasingly we see that industry specialisation is becoming more valuable, especially for the senior roles. Our priority industries include Banking & Financial Markets, Telco, Government, Life sciences and Retail, though we are active in and looking for good knowledge of other industries as well.

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in design/architect/implement appropriate solutions using formal delivery methodologies in significant projects : Mastered
  • Experience working as an architect in at least one of the following: Data Warehousing, Master Data Management, Content Management, Advanced Analytics : Mastered
  • Knowledge of industry approaches and technology, including of market leading tools from IBM and other vendors : Mastered
  • Experience in formal delivery methodologies : Mastered
  • Knowledge of industry directions : Mastered
  • Experience applying analytics techniques in a business environment : Acquired
  • Must have eligibility to work in the UK : Mastered
  • English: Fluent
