Business Architect

The Enterprise Strategy and Architecture team has a mission to help grow Microsoft’s revenue and share for customers through the delivery of a world-class Enterprise Strategy Program.

As a Business Architect on the Enterprise Strategy and Architecture team you will support the Business Insight Program by providing industry domain expertise to identify, prioritize and provide innovative approaches to achieve business value with technology solutions that directly support and trace back to business drivers.

The Business Architect should have experience in the areas below:
- Providing customer guidance during product and services sales cycle
- Playing a vital part in business strategy by providing internal practice management risk assessment
- Driving successful solution deployments by ensuring proper business value and customer/partner satisfaction
- Growing the business through mentoring, talent pipeline development, and community evangelism
- Driving operational excellence and innovation

As a part of the Enterprise Strategy and Architecture team, you will participate in the definition and continuous improvement of the process/program. Your primary responsibility will be to engage directly with a select set of our top customers and drive the appropriate conversations to deeply understand their business strategy. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of the business insights process that culminates with the creation of a strategic roadmap and business case for the customer.

Your job will focus on the areas below:
- Participating in customer engagements with our top customers and deliver high impact insight engagements
- Integrate IT best practices with Industry expertise to create actionable roadmaps that help our customers achieve their operational objectives
- Use Microsoft’s methods and tools to create a robust business cases for our customer’s strategic initiatives
- Obtain credibility with the customer’s business and IT leaders to secure Microsoft’s position as a strategic partner
- Lead and steer interviews with the business and IT leaders to discover the underlying business drivers and top priorities
- Influencing multiple customer constituencies to achieve consensus as needed for the business insight engagements
- Synthesize all information collected during the engagement and systemize it in context of IT Solutions
- Link Microsoft’s industry analysis, domain and technology knowledge across various industry projects to gain greater awareness of the customer’s business and strategic vision
- Demonstrate the value of Microsoft’s Enterprise Strategy and Architecture (ESA) program in order to advance the ESA’s agenda and goals.

Training and Certifications
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience within IT
- Work experience should involve pre-sales support, technical consulting, solution design, project envisioning, planning, development, deployment, and management
- Proven record of delivering business value
- Some business process and people management skills or related experience required.

Role Specific Characteristics May Include
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Social Science, or Business Administration is highly preferred
- Executive-level interpersonal and writing skills
- Experience with a premier consulting firm focused on strategic and/or an IT consulting role is highly preferred
- Strong Interpersonal skills

- Results driven, Self-motivated
- Experience at forming and leading virtual teams
- Familiarity with Microsoft’s strategic priorities: Cloud Computing/Software + Services; Enterprise level/Mission-critical Applications; Optimized Desktop; Unified Communications and Collaboration.
- Industry Expertise in one or more of the following sectors/industries: Public Sector, Finance or Banking, Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Energy.
- Transfer industry and market knowledge gained from the business insight engagement to the account team and other Microsoft constituencies
- Candidates must have a deep understanding of markets, customers and related technology; have the background to provide leadership in the practice and a demonstrated effectiveness in consulting and client management
- Candidates must have deep understanding of customer and partner business and IT environment, and have demonstrated skills in delivering full IT lifecycle projects.
- Candidates must have industry leading breadth knowledge of subject area, and have demonstrated analysis and communication skills connecting technology and business problems
- Frequent travel (up to 70%) is an integral part of this job, as are high levels of recognition and visibility
