Chief Security Advisor

Timezone Chief Security Advisor

The key external strategist and spokesperson for Microsoft, on all aspects of security. This individual is knowledgeable about the end-to-end security strategy of Microsoft and articulate on the policy aspects of security. As a security expert, the CSA is in position to influence and guide the region/sub strategic approach to addressing security issues.

This individual is an experienced communicator who can cast security in the language of the business, discussing Microsoft’s security strategy to C-level executives and senior government representatives. The CSAs should spend the majority of time in front of customers, government leaders, and other influential individuals (academics, journalists, analysts and policy makers), building relationships and ensuring that our message on security is being communicated accurately. This position plays a key role leveraging security as a business enabler, influencing perception, affecting matters of public policy, and driving change within Microsoft.

The CSA is the ‘go-to’ security advisor in the region/country, for technical, business, and competitive information around Microsoft security strategy, products, and offerings, and specifically, to be able to compare and contrast Microsoft security technology and programs and competing technology and programs.

The timezone role needs to show leadership in the region to develop the region and the CSA community to support Microsoft’s security needs in the future.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep technical security knowledge and deep knowledge of business scenarios, pivoted by industry, size of company, and degree of security maturity. This position requires not just “another smart Microsoft person,” but a very experienced person with variegated experience and deep technical and business acumen. This person must have the ability to map IT needs and IT planning onto business requirements and must be able to provide long-term strategic guidance to C-level players in the customer base. Must have very strong overall knowledge of all aspects of information security.
