Creative Director, UX&D

As a Creative Director experienced in leading UX work around audio, video and on demand products, with an understanding of how future media can deliver audience needs coupled with exceptional communication, networking, influencing and persuading skills, you will be in your element leading our creative teams delivering audience facing products and services for BBC News on mobile, tablet, web and IPTV. You will play an integral part in establishing the BBC as a world leader in user experience design.

You will be part of the User Experience & Design (UX&D) department, which is in turn part of the wider Future Media (FM) division. UX&D are responsible for the consistency of design, accessibility and user experience across the BBC’s digital services (web, mobile, tablet and IPTV). We aim to create a true centre of excellence for experience design within the BBC. From day one you’ll be working with cutting edge products and services; from our News service to the BAFTA award-winning BBC iPlayer. We work with one of the brightest brands on the planet, creating compelling, world-class interfaces that surprise and delight our audiences.

As well as leading the creative team for BBC News, you will liaise with other Creative Directors to ensure coherence across the digital portfolio (BBC iPlayer, homepage, sport, weather, radio and music, knowledge and learning) and inspire best-in-class user experience design talent, stimulating creativity through positive leadership. You will also have exposure across a range of disciplines (Information Architecture, Usability and Accessibility, Research and Development etc). You will also have the opportunity to work closely with big agencies on fantastic projects.

You are a highly experienced practioner in the field of user experience design, with understanding of how future media can deliver audience needs and contribute to the BBC’s aims and aspirations. You have exceptional communication, networking, influencing and persuading skills and the ability to gain respect through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism coupled with the ability to contribute strategically and evaluate decisions in the short, medium and long term. You have a proven track record in establishing and sustaining effective partnerships with key stakeholders as well as sound judgement and the flexibility of thought and approach to produce effective results in a matrix environment. You have an abundance of relevant experience in leading user experience work around audio, video and on demand products.
