As a Creative Director who is a highly experienced practioner in the field of user experience design, with an understanding of how future media can deliver audience needs and contribute to the BBC’s aims and aspirations coupled with exceptional communication, networking, influencing and persuading skills and the ability to gain respect through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism you will be in your element in our User Experience & Design (UX&D) department, part of the wider BBC Future Media (FM) division.
The UX&D team is responsible for consistency of design, accessibility and user experience across the networks and devices within the BBC’s non-linear platforms. The fundamental purpose of this group is to foster greater consistency in these experiences through the peer review of “tent pole” projects, stewardship of new standards and guidelines with regard to User Experience and fostering a true centre of excellence for experience design within the BBC.
You will lead project teams delivering audience facing products and services across the portfolio such as BBC iPlayer, homepage, news, sport, weather, radio and music. You will inspire best-in-class user experience design talent, stimulating creativity through positive leadership and help establish the BBC as a world leader in user experience design.
You will contribute to BBC strategy and policies for user experience design across the full range of
platforms, products and services, agreeing and managing design guidelines to ensure consistency and high quality across the BBC. You will drive the delivery of UX&D projects, and give creative direction to major future media propositions, capitalising on innovative tools and techniques and to deliver a range of innovative applications that lead to superior user experiences on a range of platforms and where appropriate, to a consistent cross-platform user experience.
You will be a senior point of expertise on all user experience design issues, industry trends and developing technologies and will work closely with Marketing, Communications and Audiences, sharing insights around users and identifying changes in their relationships with new media products, navigation preferences and behaviour changes.

• Highly experienced practioner in the field of user experience design, with understanding of how future media can deliver audience needs and contribute to the BBC’s aims and aspirations.
• Exceptional communication, networking, influencing and persuading skills and the ability to gain respect through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism.
• The ability to contribute strategically and evaluate decisions in the short, medium and long term.
• Proven track record in establishing and sustaining effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Sound judgement and the flexibility of thought and approach to produce effective results in a matrix environment.
• Relevant experience in leading user experience work around audio, video and on demand products.
