The BBC is currently looking for a Developer with extensive experience in TDD and BDD processes to join the News & Knowledge team.
As the newest role in our software delivery job family, this Developer will be expected to perform a developer role, with a focus on testability. They collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to define and achieve successful delivery of high quality software for our major online products.
News and Knowledge (N&K) is the department within BBC Future Media responsible for BBC Online products such as: News, Sport, Weather & Homepage. We manage and develop products on websites, mobile devices and interactive TV, have a world-leading approach to content management and metadata, and are delivering the London 2012 Olympics across BBC Online.
In this position we're looking for someone with a balanced skill set between Development and Testing. As such, we'd like to see as much of the following as possible on your CV:
• Extensive experience of writing in Ruby, Java or other OO Dev languages
• Significant understanding of Agile development practices including TDD & BDD and their application
• Understanding of databases and services (e.g.RESTful services), including the ability to programmatically interact with data formats that may include XML and JSON
• Experience using test automation frameworks and tools, such as Cucumber, Capybara, Selenium, Watir,
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, HTTP as well as major browsers and browser development tools
• Working knowledge of version control systems to ensure version control of test/development artefacts (e.g. SVN, Perforce, baazar), with some experience of distributed version control (i.e. git) desirable
