EMEA Enterprise Technology Strategist - Infrastructure

Microsoft's Customer Advocacy & Technology Management (CATM) team is looking for world-class talent to fill the position of Infrastructure Enterprise Technology Strategist (ETS). Enterprise Technology Strategists enjoy one of the most visible positions at Microsoft. In addition to senior level interaction with our largest customers, Enterprise Technology Strategists are often called on to present insights to Microsoft Business Groups and Enterprise Sales Executives as well as publically represent Microsoft as a subject matter expert at internal and external Microsoft conferences worldwide. Based on industry experience and sales expertise the ETS is highly sought after by Microsoft sales teams for advice in tough competitive situations and to provide competitive insights and strategic recommendations to Microsoft’s product development.

The ETS has a broad range of responsibilities in the following areas:
Customer Engagement
As an established expert in your domain and in the offerings of our competitors, the ETS will work with enterprise sales teams and customers on highly competitive opportunities that require a high level of credibility regarding IT business issues, technical architecture, knowledge of competitive architectures and strategies, and the business value of the Microsoft platform. The impact of this job is well over millions of dollars to the company on an annual basis. The ETS must have industry credibility and executive level communications skills to represent Microsoft in numerous high profile venues, including Microsoft’s prestigious Executive Briefing Centres as well as international industry, technical, and customer forums.
Field Empowerment
As an ETS, you will be involved in helping to develop, drive and deliver competitive awareness and capability to the Microsoft sales, technical sales and partner communities. The ETS must be able to identify new competitive strategies based on deep analysis of industry trends and field competitive engagements and be capable of using various forms of education to scale your knowledge broadly for the benefit of the international sales force.
Feedback to Business Groups
The ETS serves as part of an important link between the Redmond-based Business and Product Groups, the field sales force, partners and key customers. Utilizing a high level of indirect influence and collaboration skills, as well as industry credibility and sales experiences, you will serve as a catalyst for the creation or modification of Infrastructure related competitive sales strategy and be expected to drive business impact for the company. This role is responsible for capturing customer and field feedback and synthesizing into business relevant and actionable insights to Business Groups to drive changes in product design, marketing and competitive sales strategy. The ETS must be able to provide executive quality reporting and have sufficient personal confidence to personally represent findings to Microsoft’s highest level executives.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
To be successful in this exciting and demanding role, an Enterprise Technology Strategist must be able to demonstrate architectural level knowledge of modern and historical systems, a deep knowledge of competitive products and architectures, deep field technical enterprise sales experience, a high level of credibility at the Enterprise CxO level, excellent communication skills, and outstanding cross-group collaboration skills. 
Technical Domain Knowledge around infrastructure platforms including: 
  • Microsoft and competitor architectures, technologies and strategies. 
  • MS Products (include but not all required): Microsoft Windows Server (all flavors), Microsoft Windows Client, Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack, Microsoft System Center, Microsoft’s Security and Networking Servers, Microsoft’s virtualization solutions. 
  • Ability to understand customer issues and articulate the business value of Microsoft’s technology, understanding of the sales process combined with a strong sales background 
  • Knowledge of competitor products & strategies 
  • Competitive products and offerings: (e.g. UNIX/Linux, IBM, VMWare/EMC, Sun, etc). 
  • Excellent business, technical, demonstration, executive/small and large audience presentation skills 
  • Deep experience with enterprise customers

Candidates for this role should have relevant experience in enterprise sales and technology.
The position will require travel of up to 50%
