Fixed Income eTrading Project Manager

Fixed Income IT is looking to make a significant investment in implementing the next phase of the business electronic strategy. The main deliverable is a client execution portal which will provide our clients with the ability to view pre-trade content (research and trading analytics), execute trades and also have access to post-trade features (such as MIS, straight-through processing etc.).

This role is for a senior technologist. The role entails hands on technical analysis, design and architecture of the IT deliverables that will make up the project. The technologist is expected to be effective in design and architecture across a range of technologies, team leadership, managing risks and communication. The scope of this role includes the entire project lifecycle from initiation to execution and deployment.

The candidate will work alongside the senior project team in order to design and deliver the framework and functionality of the execution portal. This will include working with the bank architecture function and other technology teams within the bank to ensure a broad agreement on the technology standards required to make a successful and widely adopted solution.

The technologist will be responsible for working with and driving other teams, vendors and others to ensure a successful delivery on the project.

Travel to other locations (primarily New York) will be required for the role.

The technologist will take ownership of the project will be accountable to all stakeholders to ensure a successful technology delivery. This is a hands on role and the technologist will be expected to be capable of cutting code when necessary and having a strong view on development methodology and tools.

The technologist will have an ability to “cut through the noise” and understand what is important, and raises those items in a timely fashion to senior management while ensuring that a resolution is found.

The technologist will ensure they understand the “minimal but sufficient” maxim in order to gain the buy in of all the extended project team without creating undue load and bureaucracy.

The technologist will have analysis skills including using specific problem-solving approaches and techniques on different types of problems.

Essential
Prior working experience working on in a fast paced trading environment
Experience of delivering applications to Banking Front Office (Trading and Sales)
Experience of working in Fixed Income Markets
Specialist in delivery of eTrading solutions including but not limited to Web Technologies, DHTML, RIA (Flash / Silverlight) and client installed applications.
Delivery of Client Facing eTrading Applications for a major institution
Delivery of Low Latency eTrading solutions in an IB environment
Development experience (code into production) within the last five years
8+ Year experience across a wide range of technologies including both Java and C# /.Net
Strong experience in estimating resources, developing delivery plans
Strong data query, analysis and modeling skills
Strong experience working with both Agile and highly structure project methodologies

Desirable
Experience writing Business Requirements, Functional Specifications
Working knowledge of BA tools such as UML, Axure, CaseComplete etc.
Experience working on enterprise Front Office Trading and CRM applications
Experience with the Foreign Exchange, Interest-Rate Products and Credit instruments of the Fixed Income business is a distinguishing skill for potential candidates.

This role is well suited to a senior technologist who has previously delivered an eTrading solution and is looking to leverage that experience into a High profile tier 1 delivery.

The role is suited to a well organized candidate with a flexible view on Project Management being able to range from highly structured to agile methodologies within the boundaries of a single delivery.
