Head of Enterprise Systems Portfolio Management

TfL delivers the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and the management and development of London’s transport infrastructure. 28,000 staff take responsibility for the Underground, London’s bus services, DLR, Overground Rail, Victoria Coach Station and River Services. TfL also manages 580km of London’s roads, the Congestion Charge and regulates taxis. All this will be on show for the London 2012 Olympics.

TfL has a large footprint IT function providing the essential systems and process controls that deliver this.

Reporting to the Director of IT Strategy & Technology, this role provides leadership to promote the development and exploitation of technology in TfL.

Managing the enterprise and systems architecture function, you will be accountable for the delivery of 5 year application and technical roadmaps for all strategic areas, including SAP, Mail, Asset & Knowledge platforms.

Key accountabilities:
  • Establish policy and strategy for the selection of systems architecture components and implementation strategy and methods
  • Manage TfL's technical strategies, policies, standards and practices
  • Promote the systems architecture discipline within the wider IT community
  • Keep senior management up-to-date on technology trends and developments
  • Drive governance and adherence to agreed standards and practice in development, systems testing and quality assurance procedures

Background:
  • Strategic level technical understanding of key platforms including SAP, Mail, Asset and Knowledge platforms
  • Background in systems and technical architecting, able to bring process and rigour
  • As a minimum, some exposure to strategic level definition of technical roadmaps
  • Consultancy skill set – desirable
  • Experience of ensuring delivery of technical/systems architecture through managing significant third party suppliers
  • Sound, broad knowledge of IT and its impact on business functions.
  • Excellent people management skills & persuasive communicator
  • Fluent at articulating best practice and a recognised authority in this area.
  • Qualified in a recognised, relevant methodology, ideally Prince, MSP or TOGAF
  • Educated to degree level/professional qualification in an IT discipline or MBA or similar
