We currently have a position for an Integration & Test Engineer to join our Broadcast Services department within Technology at Sky. Broadcast Services is responsible for the effective and efficient provision of a diverse range of operational, support and project functions, meeting the needs of Sky and third party channels.
The Integration & Test team performs the validation of Sky's Broadcast Service platforms' integration and development projects. It consists of professional software test consultants trained to departmental standards and using ISEB best practice methods in all project test phases. Each Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the components under test meets the business objectives.
Key responsibilities in this role are:
- Completing root cause analysis of issues that arise, and taking ownership for resolution and ongoing progress updates to stakeholders.
- Owning test planning and execution based on departmental standards.
- Functional, non-functional and regression testing (including planning, testing and results analysis).
- Recording and managing of Incident Tracking.
- Test installation and configuration.
- Assisting in live integration and operational handover; own testing acceptance.
- Contributing to the design of products and applications.
- Post-implementation support and maintenance.
- Contributing to effective communications within the team and to stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities for expanding breadth of technical knowledge in all Broadcast Support technologies, and contributing to the sharing of technical information, across both the immediate team and the wider Broadcast Support Team.
- Agreeing and taking ownership of personal objectives, monitoring own performance and ensuring continuous personal development.
For this role, we'd like you to have the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in the software industry (as an Integrator or Tester)
- Understanding the importance of the testing process
- Installation and environment management
- Knowledge of Internet standards and web-serving technologies.
- JAVA application deployment
- Familiar with UNIX command line functions
- SQL and relational database models
- XML, SOAP
- Knowledge of Internet standards and web-serving technologies
- Broadcast technology -MPEG2, MPEG4, compression systems, Video Server and MAMs (desirable)
