Derivatives IT provides development and support of front, middle and back office applications used by the global OTC derivatives business for interest rate, credit and equity derivatives, options and fund linked products.
The Interest Rates Derivatives IT team is focused on the support and enhancements of the Derivatives IT risk management and e-Trading application platforms.
This is seen by the head of the London Interest Rate Derivative business as a critical set of projects to support trading in their effort to manage risk and P&L as well as their ability to stay competitively parallel with other firms on the street with their e-Trading platforms
The Project Manager (PM) in London will be responsible for the monitoring and driving the risk system deliveries of a London Interest Rate risk system, both in terms of software releases of new functionality, and the implementation of that software to new trading books.
These deliverables need to be tracked and communicated through a mixture of formal and informal project planning tools including in Microsoft Project, Milestone reporting through the internal project tracking system, Project Web, and compliance to the Software Lifecycle development, SDLC+. The PM will need to facilitate communication within the Interest Rate Derivatives IT team, between developers, testers, and implementers; within other Derivatives IT groups such as TradeFlow and Support; and with outside departments such as Product Control, Risk Management, GMAG (Modeling & Analytics) and most importantly communicate directly with our Front Office users. The PM will run meetings between all of the above mentioned teams and provide clarity and focus to overall strategy and goals.
The candidate should be IT literate to the degree that they can understand the fundamentals of the system, and consequently have an appreciation of the impact of the book of work on it (and vice versa).
They will need to be highly pro-active in chasing up for progress with the developers and QA and will be expected to be overall responsible for keeping the communication lines open between developers, support staff, the analytical group, business users and other IT departments.
The candidate will have to represent the Interest Rates Derivatives IT group at large stake holder meetings and daily/weekly status meetings. The candidate will need to understand the entire book of work, business and IT issues as well as the inter-dependencies on the various IT books of work.
The ideal candidate would also be an innovative thinker, able to approach problem solving in an effective way.
This individual will be responsible for working directly with the Interest Rate Derivatives IT team members, other Derivative IT departments and various user groups. This individual will be responsible for effectively implementing a project management framework around the Interest Rate Derivatives IT book of work to ensure proper status reporting, risk and issue tracking, bug/enhancement tracking and proper communication to various user and IT groups. Previous experience of working within OTC derivatives IT group desirable.
