IT Project Managers

Role Summary
As the project management roadmap evolves there are now opportunities for IT Delivery focussed Project Managers.
Based at our Newbury HQ, you’ll have full accountability to the Project Sponsor for the day-to-day management and delivery of projects with a high degree of critical business impact within the remit and approach agreed with Sponsor and Assignment Programme manager.
Your project portfolio will impact across a number of technical systems, involve constrained resource teams and include significant business change/transformation with values between £250k and £1m.
To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate a proven background of delivering IT projects of a similar value with a complete understanding of the systems development lifecycle.

Projects managed vary in complexity but are all aligned with the transformation of Vodafone as part of the business strategy
Customers, supplier and third parties 
Work effectively with customer-obsessed internal stakeholders; understanding and supporting their business goals whilst maintaining the Vodafone strategic and commercial position 
Driving improvements in supplier delivery 
Strong and directive management of suppliers 
Reducing costs by constantly questioning supplier quotes 
Manage stakeholder engagement across multiple organisational boundaries personally influencing key stakeholders for complex projects
Leadership and teamwork 
Build, lead and support the cross-functional project teams by developing a strong project vision of successes and nurturing strong relationships and trust within the team – lead from the front, always confident and supportive 
Direct and motivate the cross-functional project team by creating a clear, shared sense of purpose and keeping them informed of all project plans and issues 
Build a project team camaraderie and sense of fun 
Build strong internal relationships with key stakeholders and delivery functions 
Identify all stakeholders and suppliers at kick off and constantly reassess through lifecycle
Innovation and change 
Continue to check that the project deliverables innovatively deliver business and technical change that drive forward Vodafone’s transformation 
Constantly re-evaluate costs versus benefits through project life-cycle 
Challenge the broader team to think “outside of the box” about innovatively delivering the benefits required by the project 
Search for and agree with Sponsor and Assignment Manager appropriate innovation variations to standard process – question process when it clearly doesn’t work and suggest alternatives 
Comfortable when working in an ambiguous environment 
Flexibility to adapt to constantly changing priorities and way of working
Knowledge and experience 
Have an in-depth knowledge of project planning, risk management, managing within a matrix organisation, financial astuteness, stakeholder and supplier management 
Continue to build knowledge through:
o Building strong relationships with senior management, suppliers, peers and project team
o Mentoring, coaching and peer review
o Training – e.g. consultancy, risk management, financial planning, supplier management
o Industry best practices – attending forums, maintaining knowledge online
o Understanding customer by proactively maintaining industry awareness
o Managing cross-functional projects that impact different products, services, technologies and processes 
Understand and contribute to the current position and future strategies for project management by being involved in continual improvement activities 
Have complete understanding of Vodafone’s project methodology and governance 
Clear understanding of project management methodology and ability to flex process to fit all situations.
Communication 
Succinct and meaningful communication to allow rapid and informed decision making at all levels 
Communicates in an impactful manner that commands respect and confidence from the audience 
Professional presentation skills

Financial (limits/mandates etc.)

Investment Appraisal Form (IAF) compilation and submission
Project budget forecasting and tracking of finance actuals
Manages interplay between project finances and the overall timelines, scope and quality objectives of the project in line with objectives agreed with Sponsor and Assignment Manager

Non-financial (customers/staff etc)
Ability to work at all levels of seniority and across business functions internally and with external third parties
