As a Java Developer you will be responsible for the delivery of technology based business solutions and will be involved in the maintenance and support of existing operational systems. You should have an understanding of the whole delivery lifecycle i.e. Release management , Testing , Change Management and will be involved in component design, coding, unit testing and deployment of systems and system components working within a framework to meet both functional and non functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:- Opportunity to work with leading Financial Institutions, both in the UK and around the world, to analyse, develop, test and implement innovative solutions.
- Working as part of a team to develop, test and maintain multi-tier enterprise applications. You will liaise with other teams within assigned projects to ensure software compliance and satisfaction.
- Supporting the technical design process by participating in the analysis of technical application requirements
- Assisting in implementing analyses that will identify requirements related to people, processes and technology
- Participating in implementing the technical infrastructure, including networks, platforms and servers, enterprise enabling, application enabling, security and operations management
- Assisting in the integration of technical and application components to meet business requirements
- Coding and testing program modules that meet design specifications; assisting in design
- Maintaining, tuning and repairing applications to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications; providing user support
- Creating, executing and documenting the tests necessary to ensure that an application or technical environment meets performance requirements (technical, functional and user interface)
- Executing conversion plans and document possible improvements; identifying disruptions in the processes
- Participating in identifying configuration changes to applications so that they meet business process requirements
Skills Requirement- Proven experience in developing systems and using development methodologies for the Capital Markets clients.
- Commercial Java development experience.
- Excellent understanding of JSE, JEE (JDBC, JMS, JPA, EJB, JSP, JSTL, Servlets) and XML based technologies.
- Strong expertise and knowledge of the Java Open Source Ecosystem and Tools
- Experience of Spring or Hibernate desirable
- Proven knowledge of database fundamentals using SQL on Oracle or Sybase, and an understanding of object relational mapping technologies.
- Strong software development process knowledge, including re-factoring, test-driven development, lifecycle methodologies, the Rational Unified Process, agile development methods etc.
- Complete understanding of Web Services and their use in Java implementations.
- Fundamental grasp of object-oriented design, multi-threaded programming and distributed systems in a real-time environment.
- Some level of Java Sun certification desirable.
- Knowledge of Web application design using Servlets and JSPs, as well as HTML based technologies and interface design using Swing or Eclipse RCP.
- Working knowledge of Perl, Python, TCL or Unix scripting.
- Commercial Experience and/or Certifications on product suites from TIBCO, IBM and other leading vendors advantageous
Industry Skills- Experience within either a well regarded trading and risk management consultancy, capital markets software provider or a financial institution
- Knowledge of Financial Markets Products including Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, FX, Derivatives (including, Equity, Interest Rates and Credit Derivatives products
- Knowledge of electronic markets in the marketplace such as NASDAQ, TradeWeb, Bloomberg, MTS, ESpeed, BrokerTec.
- Knowledge of risk management concepts including Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational, Execution and Liquidity Risk
- Knowledge and experience of implementing trading and risk management systems including exchange platforms.
- Experience implementing capital markets software packages including Summit, Calypso, Murex, Brass, Front Arena
- Experience working with market and reference data & modelling applications
Special ConsiderationsThe role will involve spending a large proportion of time at client sites so flexibility with location is essential.
