The BBC is currently looking for a Network Engineer to maintain the network infrastructure for the BBC’s online services and ensure very high levels of availability of the network components (99.99%). This includes all network environments within the BBC managed platforms across 2 data centres.
The role sits within Future Media (FM) Operations, who are the people working behind the scenes to keep the BBC’s online services up and running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The services we maintain include the BBC News and Sport web sites and the highly popular BBC iPlayer.
Technically, this is what we'd like to see on your CV:
• Extensive technical knowledge of large-scale IP based networking, ideally in an ISP Environment, with knowledge of the following network protocols:
o BGP, IS-IS, Spanning Tree, QoS (6 Class DiffServ Codepoints) IPSec/IP MPLS VPN’s
• Extensive knowledge of building and troubleshooting Internet platforms, particularly for web applications, but also streaming
• Experience of building and maintaining full range of both Cisco and Juniper devices
• Current, valid, industry recognised network certification, at least CCNP or JNCIP
• Experience of implementing monitoring solutions on networks
• Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with a focus on delivery in a rapidly changing environment
