People Champion - Global Mobility focus

ThoughtWorks is a people-driven organisation and our consultants make us who we are, so we have created the People Champion role to engage and support our consultants and business to the highest possible degree.
The focus of a People Champion is to ensure our people have the best experience they can throughout their careers with ThoughtWorks. The role will be a part of the ThoughtWorks Europe People Team and reports to the Head of Professional Services.

The role would ideally suit an experienced, poly-skilled HR professional, who is comfortable with autonomy as well as working in a team, is self driven, service oriented and can easily and happily switch context from administrative tasks to implementing a programme of work.
 
You will be a champion for diversity within ThoughtWorks and the wider world of technology. You(with the support and participation of the People Team) will be responsible for helping to create a positive work environment, on local projects and in the office, and you will take responsibility for supporting, advocating and organizing community building activities to ensure there is a distinct community feeling in ThoughtWorks Europe.
 
There are two People Champion roles and although these are generalist roles there will be one People Champion with a specific focus on global transfers and one with a specific focus on resource management and planning.
 
Responsibilities:
 


Global Movements: Responsible for the end-to-end process of all inbound transfers and/or assignments to ThoughtWorks Europe.  This includes identifying and confirming transferees as part of the Resource Management process, coordinating with the Immigration team to ensure compliance with all immigration related requirements, preparing assignment terms, keeping all assignees well informed on the terms of assignments and questions relating to their travel, making all travel arrangements  (e.g. book flights, airport transfers, accommodation), assisting with any assignee arrival needs, regularly following up throughout the assignment  to support the individual consultant and organizing all arrangements for their return. This is a true end-to-end service and acts as the key point of contact for all travelers into Europe; therefore, a service oriented attitude is very important, as well as periodically reviewing suppliers to ensure we getting the best possible options for accommodation and other travel services.
HR Management: You will manage the day-to-day HR needs of our people and be responsible for ensuring compliance, including policy and benefits updates and implementations, regular analysis of metrics & preparing reports, maintenance of personnel files and occupational health & safety.
Consultant career and professional development: You will work with the Head of Professional Services and others to facilitate and support the professional development of our people as consultants and practitioners and ensure they have  professional tools to perform their jobs effectively. This will include:  (i) assisting with group and individual training needs; (ii) tracking and supporting personal development plans; (iii)  ensuring there are regular  feedback cycles; and (iv) responding to requests related to conference attendance, leadership development assessment, and coaching
Induction: You will organize and run ThoughtWorks’ Induction program and take responsibility for helping with the on-boarding and managing the first three months of a new ThoughtWorker .You will work with the Head of Professional Services and Client Principals to ensure structured project on-boarding.
Additional people related projects:  Such as Compensation Review and Probation Review

 
Ideally you will have the following experience and attributes:
 


Significant experience and understanding of global mobility and immigration, for example, in roles that managed the end-to-end process of international talent movements.
Experience of working in a mid-sized professional services/ consulting/technology company (is strongly preferred)
Responsibility for the support and care of a group of at least 50 employees.
Exhibit a can do and proactive attitude, open to new challenges, aspire to be flexible and adaptable, capable of implementing new ideas and source innovative solutions for the business.
You’re as happy to roll your sleeves up and tackle the important but potentially less glamorous parts of the job as you are telling someone they just got promoted.
