Job Description
The portfolio management team shapes and guides the delivery of a portfolio by determining which projects are taken forward and then monitoring their progress and responding to issues that arise in delivery. Portfolio Management team do not have direct accountability for delivery of the projects in the portfolio, but drive portfolio processes and make recommendations to line management and governance bodies. Portfolio management processes include identifying, prioritising, authorising, governing and monitoring projects, programmes and other related work, to make portfolio decisions based upon value and strategic alignment.
The Portfolio analysts support portfolio managers through the collection, analysis and interpretation of management information from across a portfolio. In a complex delivery landscape, the role of the portfolio analyst is critical – making sense of a large volume of data to enable the right planning and delivery decisions to be made.
Qualifications University Degree
Experience:Project/portfolio planning and analysis skills including experience in:Project Planning and Plan Management (MS Project)Timescale and dependency managementFinancial management and tracking Change management / control processesRisk and issue management.Familiarity with best practice project, programme and portfolio management practices including PMBoK.In-depth experience with Microsoft tools including Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Sharepoint.Skills and Behaviours:Strong analytical skills including an ability to anticipate and highlight potential issues and opportunities for intervention at an early stage.Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.Ability to engage and build relationships and influence with senior IT&S and business staff.Attention to detail and rigour.Flexibility and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
