Pre - Sales Technical Architect - Unified Communications

This role is all about the art of selling without selling. Our customers want more than just mobile phones from us and we’re providing it. But providing it is complex and that’s where you come in. You’ll have conversations with our customers to understand their needs and knit together an appropriate solution, encompassing converged mobile, fixed line telephony and mobility extension capabilities, delivered as a fully supported, pro-active managed service.
You’ll provide the technical expertise to effectively describe the technical components of these solutions for our customers.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to clearly demonstrate an understanding of sales, design and delivery of systems integration projects into large enterprise environments. So you’ll need to have senior level pre-sales experience in either the convergence or IP-PBX field. Working from home, it’s essential that you’re a self-starter and a recognised expert in communications solutions, so you can really make a difference in an exciting new area for Vodafone.

Essence of Role 
  • Acts as subject matter expert for all technical components of the solution during pre-sales engagements 
  • Leads solution demonstrations to customers 
  • Assist customers in the creation of a business case to justify and validate the implementation of a Nortel solution. 
  • Responsible for addressing customer technical questions and concerns 
  • Responsible for technical relationships with 3rd party suppliers during pre-sales engagement 
  • Responsible for initial technical assessment of customer environments 
  • Responsible for leading technical workshops with customers to define scope of work 
  • Responsible for creation of high-level solution designs 
  • Responsible for completion of technical responses to customer RFP 
  • Assists in the creation of business proposals 
  • Interfaces with the Technical Architect responsible for delivery to clarify project scope and transition technical responsibilities into a delivery function after completion of commercial agreement 
  • Maintains in-depth technical knowledge of solutions within the complex solutions portfolio and associated technical capabilities associated with networking, security and business applications 
  • Interfaces with product development teams to provide input into new solutions from a customer-facing technical perspective

Technical/Professional Expertise
Confident in presenting complex technical products or services in a pre-sales environment to Enterprise customers.
TDM / IP PBX experience or certification required e.g. Cisco / Nortel / Avaya / Microsoft.
Microsoft or equivalent technical professional qualifications preferred. Experience in OCS / LCS an advantage.
Voice network architecture/design
Voice over IP (VoIP) network architecture and design
Unified Communications preferably MCS or LCS experience
Good understanding of telecommunications, IP networking, enterprise networks, IT infrastructure and security considerations
Technical knowledge of Mobile Email platforms (e.g. BlackBerry, Windows Mobile)
Exceptional customer relationship management skills at all levels up to executive level.
Experience of responding to information technology RFPs preferred.
Degree qualified or equivalent in a computer science or engineering discipline.
