Product Lead - Broadband CPE

The Broadband Product Development team sits within the Product Development and Design (PDD) function at Sky. As a small team, we work closely with our colleagues in PDD across the TV, Mobile and Online functions to offer a cross-functional synergy in all our developments. We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Product Lead to join our team to own and drive the Broadband Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) development. You'll be responsible for defining and communicating the strategy and roadmap for Broadband CPE. This role will also take the lead in assessing opportunities to evolve supplier models, ensuring that CPE functionality meets the evolving needs of the business and managing the in-life reliability, stability and performance of the router portfolio

Key responsibilities of this role include:  
  • Building relationships across key stakeholders within the business, to understand and translate their needs into the right functional roadmap for fixed broadband devices
  • Defining a strategy for the future development of fixed broadband devices and translating that into the device roadmap
  • Identify business requirements for all new initiatives and then author and distribute key development documentation
  • Define both software and hardware evolution for Broadband CPE
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact and business decision maker for in-life management of Sky Broadband Routers
  • Drive forwards robust reporting on product reliability, including any ancillary components such as PSU, microfilters, dongles/adapters and IADs
  • Ensure that industry and technology trends are reflected in the roadmap, to the benefit of Sky's business objectives

 
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Recent product management or technical development in the consumer-facing UK Telecoms sector and ideally experience with broadband routers
  • Delivery of insightful recommendations on product strategy
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial and operational info, relevant data and insight into product development decisions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Strong drive to achieve stakeholder buy-in and "get things moving"
  • A flexible skill-set combining commercial, strategic & operational acumen - ability to identify a commercial opportunity and execute on it
  • Ability to deliver to tight timescales and manage a broad range of priorities
  • Good level of Excel skills for financial modelling and Powerpoint skills
  • Ideally a background in engineering or consumer electronics with either a keen interest or knowledge in some / all of the following - wireless technologies, DSL technologies, silicon and PCB understanding and cosmetic design
