Project Manager - VP

The Derivatives IT division is currently looking for a project manager to join the team in London.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The candidate will be part of the Front Office Cash project which has been set up to source cash suitable for settlement directly from the FO risk systems thus aligning cash & P&L calculations. The candidate will be responsible for development of solutions which enable the on boarding of trading activity onto this strategic solution.

THE ROLE INVOLVES: 
  • Partnering with fellow IT colleagues and clients in the Front Office, Middle Office, Operations etc. to design and implement solutions for complex business problems in equities flow, exotic & structured notes products spaces:

o Design, Development and Testing of in-house solutions.

o Assisting Business Analysts and Software Architects converting business requirements into system solutions.
o Helping technology management to establish project scope and define priorities and timeframes.
o Monitoring, managing and reporting personal progress.
o Assist with System Testing and User Acceptance Testing.
o Creating adequate documentation
o Assist with User Training.
o Providing 2nd-level support.
  • Working with Front & Middle Office users and Senior IT Management, along with Operations, Product Control and fellow Technology professionals, to understand, capture and manage requirements for improving and expanding the Derivatives business’s technology platform and its related business processes, on a global and regionally-specific basis. 
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Derivatives IT department.

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Credit Suisse IT department is responsible for the development and upkeep of all information technology systems within the bank.

The Derivatives IT division is a ‘front to back’ organization providing IT Development and Support for CS’s OTC Derivatives Business for front, middle and back office applications used by the global OTC derivatives business for interest rate, credit and equity derivatives, options and fund linked products. It is in the process of a radical redesign of its IT systems and architecture to meet the challenges of a major increase in trading volumes as well as improved STP and control. It encompasses both Front Office and Back Office IT teams and is closely aligned with the Derivatives Support Group – CS’s OTC Business division.

This role is within the Derivatives Trade Flow department within the Derivatives IT Division.

Derivatives Trade Flow provides development and support globally for OTC Derivatives trade processing across all trading entities and clusters within CS. The Department is responsible for many Business applications including TerraFirma, DOMAN, DTD, Trade Servers, JETS and documentation and settlement systems.

The brief of the department is to work with the users to design the optimum Straight Through Processing and control processes for all products, and to deliver solutions either through in-house development or implementation of third party products as well as support our legacy systems.

The architecture must be global, multi-entity (i.e. entity independent) and volume insensitive. The department also services market driven initiatives.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST POSSESS:
- Degree educated in a related (IT/Maths/Finance/Business) subject matter
- At least 3-5 years Business Analysis experience
- Experience of working with IT development teams on project deliverables
- Good understanding of the end to end Cash Management processes (ie. Cash Generation, Settlements, Cash Control functions)
- Ability to apply structured, logical and analytical thought process to resolving issues
- Knowledge of OTC derivative products
- Some SQL (Oracle, Sybase or SQL Server)
- Knowledge of key market initiatives and technology-driven developments across OTC derivatives eg. DTCC Warehouse for Central Settlement is preferred.
- Familiar with XML-based messaging formats
- XSL-T
- Working with Front & Middle Office users and Senior IT Management, along with Operations, Product Control and fellow Technology professionals, to understand, capture and manage requirements for improving and expanding the Derivatives business’s technology platform and its related business processes, on a global and regionally-specific basis.
- Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Derivatives IT department.
- Investment Banking background preferred
- Must be a strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of facing off to business clients and working to tight project deadlines.
- Investment banking or software house background
- At least 3 years experience developing in C# AND at least 3 years experience developing in JAVA.
- Worked Sybase & Oracle databases.
- Worked with distributed development teams (London/NY/Singapore).
- Working on or with WebServices.
- Experience working on Weblogic & Eclipse
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Planning and organisational skills
- Ability to own problems through to resolution
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment to tight deadlines.
