System Release Manager/Release Management Director experienced and dynamic System Release Manager whose primary role will be to define, plan, and manage the ongoing release of PSP Programme releases across a number of applications in a variety of environments.
This is a demanding position, delivering quality releases to Sky environments across Test (Functional and Non-Functional), Stage and Production and DR. You will be the kind of person who is happy to work in both structured and unstructured environments. You are an accomplished negotiator and are able to get agreement across diverse technical and business teams. As Release Manager, you will report to Programme Delivery Lead and work closely with the Delivery Managers (North and South); Senior Test Lead and Operational Readiness Lead to ensure releases of the applications and components are well communicated and approaches, milestones are understood and agreed.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the release of PSP applications, components and BAU enhancements and changes across the whole of the programme, specifically:
Agree timescales for releases to production in partnership with the Software Delivery Managers (North and South), the Business Operational Readiness Lead and the Programme Test Lead. You will work with peers Customer Business Systems, Software Engineering, Infrastructure Services and Service Operations to define, agree and approaches, priorities, schedules and deliveries through System Test and to Customers, negotiating and harmonising across different practices and constraints by area.
Work closely with the formal release teams in the various Technology departments in Sky
* Necessary processes and gates are followed
* Release approach is defined, communicated and agreed
* Essential Gates are scheduled and met
* Entry and Exit criteria are defined and agreed
* Ensure that candidates for release meet required entry criteria
* Slots and/or Resources are secured (internally and externally)
Additionally you will:
* Track the development programme & through the Delivery Managers and escalate appropriately to the Tech Programme Delivery lead.
* Define, agree and police any programme specific processes for on going releases
* Work with the Delivery Managers and Scrum Masters to evaluate, prioritise and schedule bug fixes as they arise without distracting key development team members.
* Provide regular progress reports, risk assessments, planning input to Tech programme delivery and Operational Readiness
Essential:
* Experience of working with or on Agile software development team
* Ability to manage and drive multidiscipline teams in a matrix management organisation
* Ability to identify and manage technical risk and suggest appropriate mitigations
* Proven experience in either:
* project or programme management
* change or configuration management
* quality assurance or quality control
* Ability to drive release of software components from ready for end-to-end to production
You will be based in Osterley, West London, however some regular travel may be required between sites.
