IT Investment Banking is currently looking for a Senior Development Manager to join the team in London
ROLE SUMMARY:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of strategic applications and ongoing development of the Securities Lending Trading system. Specifically the development of a new Prime Lending trading platform.
- Responsibilities include the management of development projects, ensuring good practice is followed and that the task is executed in a timely and high quality manner.
- Gain subject matter expertise on a number of securities lending systems: its sub-systems & components and take development ownership for key components.
- Contribute to the technical direction, strategic architecture, development standards and best practices for the global securities lending technology organisation.
- Working closely with other senior development leads & business analysts, with supporting groups (e.g. QA, Engineering, Support, etc), and with the trading & operations teams.
THE ROLE INVOLVES:
- Successfully implement new or enhanced solutions for the Global Securities Lending team.
- Lead the development process taking accountability for projects from requirements gathering, through development, QA, safe release and handover to Production Support.
- Help develop requirements specifications with the business analysts and users on a wide range of projects and initiatives, spanning Securities Lending as well as other Prime Services initiatives
- Management of a team of C# / .Net / Sybase developers working on the design and development of the global trading platform: covering trade capture and lifecycle management, books and records management, reporting, settlement and decision support.
- Provide technical leadership to the GSL development team: championing good practice and techniques; contributing to improve the team’s technical & delivery capability.
- Work closely with other development leads globally and outsourced development resources to create an effective team culture with strong delivery ethic.
- Implement appropriate controls to ensure a high quality development processes.
- Ensure that all development is performed in concordance with the Firm’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC+) standards.

- Show ability to be an effective team manager working closely with colleagues from multiple teams and disciplines, bringing added value to the team.
- Show understanding of good project planning practices and team management processes
- Display attention to detail, willingness to learn, and must be proactive
- Provide technical leadership
- Good concise & clear verbal and written communication
TO QUALIFY YOU MUST POSSESS:
- In depth Securities Lending and/or Prime Brokerage business knowledge, preferably gained on the development of trading systems.
- Hands on technical development manager with track record of leading projects through all stages of development life cycle.
- Strong development skills and awareness of industry standard techniques & practices.
- The candidate should have good understanding of OO and SOA development techniques.
- Knowledge of C# /.net and Sybase technologies.
- At least 7 year’s hands on technical development management experience with at least 2 at a leadership level.
- Software change management control (Subversion - optional)
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment to tight deadlines.
- Team player, flexible, self-motivated, articulate and methodical.
- Experience with working with a global team.
- Numerate degree
