Senior Project Manager

Description:
We currently have a position for a Senior Project Manager within our Infrastructure Delivery Projects team in Customer Information Systems (CIS). The Infrastructure Projects Delivery group is a specialist team providing Programme and Project Management along with Project support to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of leading edge, highly complex technical programmes & projects in line with business expectations.

Customer Information Systems (CIS) is the largest department in Technology and has a broad scope covering the core IT applications and infrastructure used at Sky. It is responsible for developing, supporting and maintaining the Customer Management platform; online, interactive and mobile products; the shared IT Infrastructure and data centres; and workplace technology. Infrastructure Delivery is responsible for the shared IT infrastructure space which covers the core Sky data centres and the server and storage estates.

As a Senior Project Manager in Infrastructure Delivery, you will lead a team of skilled individuals from various technical disciplines and business areas (matrix management) both internally and externally in order to deliver large, highly complex and state of the art projects in a clear and structured manner ensuring effective delivery to time and budget.

Role responsibilities:
* To deliver project outcomes to agreed quality, timelines and budget.
* Review the project progress reports with the Programme Manager for quality and accuracy.
* Produce progress reports for all projects and services being delivered within their remit.
* Coach project managers in good practice project management as required to support planned individual development.
* Regularly communicate an overview of the key aspects of the project plan to all other areas of the Department and the business, highlighting any implications for those areas.
* Advise and influence internal/external parties at senior management level through structured communication and use of effective influencing skills.
* Ensure that contracts and negotiations with both internal and external suppliers are always aimed at meeting the business needs of BSkyB by providing a value for money service in terms of standards, quality, efficiency, safety, performance and cost effectiveness.
* To manage and develop relationships with other business areas within Sky.
* To keep abreast of future business strategy across Infrastructure Delivery, CIS and Sky and provide support to the strategic direction to the department.
* Monitor and assess the project demands for resources across all areas of the Department to identify where resource issues may exist and address with the relevant stakeholder/manager.

For the role, we are looking for you to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
* Proven track record in Senior Project Management delivering large/complex projects to agreed timelines, quality and budget.
* Proven track record of end to end delivery on complex IT infrastructure / Telecoms / Technology focussed projects. Experience of running projects in a network, data centre, Wintel/Unix technologies, Storage technologies environment advantageous.
* Excellent understanding of the concepts and processes required within large and complex projects.
* Specialist knowledge in Project Management and associated methods and tools.
* Skilled in at least one formal project management methodology used in a cross disciplined environment (PRINCE 2, APMP). Previous experience of OGC and MSP desirable.
* Ability to deal with high degrees of ambiguity and frequent changes of business / programme focus.
* Broad business knowledge including commercial, financial and technical awareness.
* Experience of operating in a business change environment advantageous.
* Previous relevant experience of customer, supplier and relationship management.
* Strong people management skills and communication skills – credible at all levels with strong influencing skills.
* Self motivator with energy and drive for continuous improvement and a focus on delivering results.
