Technical Specialist -- Server Systems Engineer
The Health Solutions Group is a startup business group within Microsoft offering innovative software solutions for the healthcare industry. Server Systems Engineers will be part of a team responsible for driving successful deployments of our new enterprise healthcare systems. You will work directly with our customers, advising them on the appropriate design and configuration of their data centers to run our healthcare systems. Your work could ultimately help our customers save lives and improve the quality of patient care around the world. The ideal candidate is a self-confident, well spoken, hard working and highly organized professional, who has solid skills and experience in building relationships with customers and partners. He/she is driven to take ownership of a project and has sufficient interpersonal and technical skills to be able to take the project through all phases of the project.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work directly with customers to understand their IT infrastructure and help build server configurations that support optimal performance of our solutions
Perform any required baseline testing on new or existing hardware to be used by our systems
Drive the configuration and installation of hardware in the customer environment
Participate in relevant architecture discussions during planning and configuration phases
Assist with system testing
Install Amalga Platform and design/configure for high availability, high performance, and high security
Provide support for hardware infrastructure post go-live
Ideal candidates will have the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:
Experience in server systems engineering, for large scale applications in a data center-style environment, either remote or on-premise
Possess build/design/troubleshooting skills pertaining to server setup, configuration, connectivity and data communication for 2- and 3- tier applications
Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, SMS, Active Directory as it pertains to server configuration and maintenance
Strong background in Windows Server platform
Experience with Windows Server installation/configuration/maintenance
Healthcare industry background a plus
Ability to work well in a start-up environment
30-50% travel, may include international
Bachelor’s degree required
