Software Engineer / Support – Financial Services

A London based Financial company is looking for a Software Engineer to work in a position that will be a combination of financial engineering and development. Aspects of the role include supporting, maintaining and developing their analytical data environment, including fixing problems with day to day calculations – Python (crunches data) and SQL. The role will potentially integrate into algorithmic development.

Key technologies required for consideration:
  • SQL (any database, preferably MySQL)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, but Perl would be considered)
  • Any OO language will do, C# is a nice to have

The environment is very sensitive so development background is a must (3+ years). Finance is a big plus - dealing with market micro structure issues. Outside normal trading hours support will be required (possibly weekend work).

He or she must be able to work in highly stressed environments, be a strong team player and have first class communication and educational background, ideally Computer Science related. Any candidates with a statistical / financial background will be a bonus.
