Technology Manager - Release Management, Global Product Solutions Technology - VP

Summary of Business Area
A vacancy exists for the manager of the Release Management team within the Global Corporate Commercial and Investment Banking Technology (GCCIBT) team located in Croydon. The successful candidate will be responsible for adapting, developing and implement strategy and processes that the team will then execute to enable the implementation of change to the production environment whilst reducing issues related to change. Ensure that this change is well communicated and accepted by all parties to ensure 'no surprises in production'.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple releases of multiple applications across the globe.
  • Manage the implementation of multiple portfolios of initiative and application support items into production
  • Manage the test environments of the applications to ensure they are utilised as efficiently as possible
  • Participate in Senior Change Advisory Board, reviewing, questioning, authorising change on weekly and long term basis.
  • Reporting future planned change to Senior partners in both Asia and EMEA
  • Hands on direct line management responsibility for the team of up to 10 associates, performance management, setting team goals and workload management.
  • Drive team to define, implement and execute release strategy improvements to meet the demands for ability to deliver far higher volume of change to the platform with no reduction in stability objectives
  • Drive team to influence developers/testers other wider team members to ensure the needs of release management are considered and met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Plan resources across multiple project/portfolio initiatives and test only items.
  • Manage multiple conflicting business / technology priorities.

Skill Requirements

  • A solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Previous release management experience
  • Strong and proven associate management experience including management of offshore and remote associates.
  • Strong technical skills on one or more of the following platforms: Mainframe, Unix, Windows, OpenVMS
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with various stakeholders (e.g., business partners, project manager, technical lead, developers and testing associates who may be based in various geographical locations and timeframes
  • Analyse, Decision Risk/Reward of change activity
  • Influence other change groups to ensure delivery of service partners meets level required by the organisation as a whole
  • Work effectively within a fast-paced environment
  • Adapts quickly to change and prioritises time effectively
  • Strong oral and written communications
  • Manage mix of permanent and contract staff in multiple geographic locations.
