Technology Specialist Professional – Software + Services

If you are passionate about technology, possess strong knowledge of the Communications Industry, and are at your greatest when working with customers to solve business challenges using Microsoft technology, then joining the Communications Sector at Microsoft as a Technology Specialist is the role for you!

The Communications Sector (CS) is the fastest growing business at Microsoft and is a dynamic and innovative group focused on establishing succesfful partnerships with Telephone companies and Internet Service Providers for joint distribution of products and services to the consumer market.

As a Technology Specialist for the Windows Live Service Provider Program (WLSPP), you will be a lead technologist contributing to the success of the program. Working with the CS Business Development Community, you will represent the key technical aspects of the Windows Live Services offer, and lead engagement with ISP partners to evaluate, scope, and manage the offer deployment and launch process. Maintaining positive and clear communications with senior technology and business leaders at partner accounts will be critical, as you will serve as the primary technology interface to the account, facilitating communication across a diverse set of stakeholders; ISP partner project team, Systems Integrator, Windows Live Partner Team, and Communications Sector Account Team, and Business Development Managers.

Key responsibilities and duties of the Technology Specialists include:
a) Provide pre-sales support to the CS Business Development Community while serving as the technology Subject Matter Expert for the WLSPP in the geography you represent
b) Lead complex technical pre-sales discussions and relationships, including architecture design session, proof of concepts, demonstrations, RFP/RFI responses, competitive platforms, publishing white papers and technical case studies, and delivering technical presentations and briefings to customers and the industry
c) Act as project manager representing Microsoft interests, driving strong cooperation across multiple stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of the WLSPP offer:
a. Drive implementation/deployment pre-requisites: guide customer through step by step process to meet implementation requirements (e.g. ad exclusion, provisioning tool, migration need analysis, etc.)
b. Presentation and Support of Microsoft tools (e.g. SDK).
c. Facilitate System Integrator coordination with partner project tems

d) Maintain regular communication across multiple organizations to provide project status, highlight key learnings and best practice to drive program effectiveness and efficiency
e) Represent the CS Field and partners through communication of technical feedback to appropriate Microsoft Product Groups

To successfully perform the duties mentioned above, the ideal candidate will possess: 
  • Strong technical background in the Communications Sector industry, with direct experience in the service provider network. 
  • Understanding and ability to articulate key industry messages and technologies in the area of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Web based Services. 
  • Exceptional communications skills and an ability to formulate and articulate value points around complex product and solution scenarios 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to clearly formulate issues and recommendations, and the skills necessary to deliver effective presentations, are required 
  • Ability to maintain and manage wide variety of relationships from executive level people at the customer to technical contributors of a partner. 
  • A current functional understanding of online communications services and Microsoft products and solutions with the ability to quickly ramp up on any gaps 
  • Understanding of the strategic direction of consumer communication trends, and the key players in the industry 
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of competitive service offerings 
  • Very strong interpersonal and influence skills. Excellent cross-group collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a team environment that demands excellence. 
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with strong time and project management skills 
  • Broad business skills and experience to ensure practical empathy with customer business challenges and provide credibility in the proposed Microsoft solutions 
  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Business Administration or relevant professional experience
