The BBC is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join the News & Knowledge product team to play an integral to the development process and are focussed with increasing quality and test coverage of existing systems as well as new applications.
News and Knowledge (N&K) is the department within BBC Future Media responsible for a lot of the BBC Online products such as; News, Sport, and Weather. They manage and develop products on websites, mobile devices and interactive TV, have a world-leading approach to content management and metadata, and are currently tasked with delivering the London 2012 Olympics across BBC Online.
Expectations are high within the BBC’s Future Media teams at the moment with the build up to the Olympics, the next generation or the iPlayer, and more products set to be unveiled. As such, we need someone who’s up to the task, and highlighting the following on your CV will help with that:
• Test automation using Ruby and Cucumber and Rspec
• Write automation test cases that verify functional and non-functional requirements of a feature
• Experience testing XML/HTTP/SOAP web services
• Understanding of Test Driven development
• Good understanding of version control systems (SVN)
• Working knowledge of Continuous Integration using Jenkins (Hudson)
• Broad understanding of Agile development practices
2012 will mean all eyes on BBC’s digital services for our coverage of The Olympics, European Championships and Wimbledon to name a few. As such this will be a very rewarding time to be part of the BBC and will be an impressive addition to any Testing CV.
