Unix Project Systems Analyst - West London

We currently have a position for a Unix Project Systems Analysts to join our team within Broadcast Services. Broadcast Services designs, develops and operates Sky's Broadcast infrastructure with the continued goal of improving flexibility and efficiency. Project Systems Analysis provides technical expertise to support Entertainment Projects at Sky.

Role responsibilities: 
  • To provide UNIX project support for Broadcast projects for a range of different projects 
  • To deliver UNIX based projects throughout the project lifecycle and provide technical expertise to projects requiring UNIX implementation 
  • Own the technical aspect of the project, and understand the purpose and application of the environment in which it resides 
  • Plan, install, configure and administer Redhat / HP-UX / Linux servers throughout the project lifecycle for stand-alone systems, multilayer and clustered environments. 
  • Contribute to and at times owning part of the project design, and verifying that it is suitable for implementation. 
  • Working with Integration and Test to complete the test process 
  • Engaging with the relevant Support and Operational teams to enable the system to be promoted to Production in a fully supported and operational state 
  • Maintain an effective communication system with key stakeholders and Project team members and ensure that an effective and regular communication structure exists

For the role, we are looking for you to have the following skills and experience 
  • Experience of delivering UNIX based projects throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Track record of installing, configuring and administrating UNIX environments - Redhat / HP-UX / Linux. 
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of UNIX operating systems characteristics, capabilities and limitations. 
  • Redhat 5 / HP-UX 11 and Linux administration skills. 
  • Exposure to elements of UNIX infrastructure design desirable. 
  • Knowledge of configuring server storage within an EMC Symmetrix or other SAN environments. 
  • Experience of Veritas Cluster server administration. 
  • Experience of Veritas Volume Manager and VxFS administration. 
  • UNIX shell scripting skills. 
  • Customer focused approach with excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and effectively in a fast moving broadcast environment. 
  • Experience of working in a Broadcast / Media environment advantageous. 
  • Strong analysis skills with an analytical approach to problem solving.
