As an experienced and confident Taxonomy and Search Manager, you will have a critical role in ensuring our people can find the information they need, when they need it, to deliver the impact that matters for their clients. You will be joining at an exciting time in our evolution, with increased cross border working and development of a truly Digital workplace, your skills will be core to achieving our strategy.


As an important member of the Digital team you will lead the strategy, development and governance of the UK member firm taxonomy and search including; day to day updates, change management, and continuous improvement across UK and global applications, ensuring compliance with local and global policies, and standards.


You must be confident in becoming a trusted advisor, building positive relationships, working with and influencing stakeholders of all grades in a deadline driven and matrix environment. You will work collaboratively across many teams within the UK firm as well as with key stakeholders in other Deloitte member firms.


You will be able to understand and be responsive to business requirements, manage expectations, and navigate our complex interconnected landscape, to deliver creative yet pragmatic solutions. You will be comfortable in the detail, whilst focusing on the bigger picture of user experience.

The Clients & Markets Digital team supports an agile working approach, it’s the impact you make that matters; including working from home when arranged in advance with line manager.




  • Develop and own the UK taxonomy and search roadmaps to:
    • Establish taxonomy/data lifecycle
    • Optimise data quality and promote best practice
    • Improve data delivery, efficiency and accuracy
    • Ensure content freshness and findability
    • Harness analytics to drive data optimisation
  • Develop strategy and processes for managing taxonomy development and implementation that enable UK and global content management, people, and financial reporting applications.
  • Engage with business stakeholders from finance, talent, industry and business practice areas to evaluate and develop the UK taxonomy, providing an advisory and coordination role.
  • Continually evaluate and remediate issues of non-alignment with the enterprise program standards and improve usability in consuming applications.
  • Support our people directory, ensuring it meets UK needs, and is correctly configured and populated.
  • Develop relationships and partner with local application data managers, IT project teams, program and application management teams, serving as the middle layer between application teams and taxonomy business owners to develop and refine quality processes and documentation to ensure data integrity in consuming applications through:
    • Oversight of search governance including advising internal and external site owners on topics such as navigation, search refiners and tagging optimisation
    • Reviewing error and completion reports
    • Driving search quality reviews
    • Assisting with the development of taxonomy requirements and consumption planning
    • Developing expertise on local and global data flows across integrated applications
  • Educate and promote the benefits and uses of taxonomy and search across the business, including articulation of the business case for investing in developing, implementing and maintaining a strong, responsive taxonomy and search.
  • Grow Deloitte’s reputation in taxonomy and search management with relevant internal and external communities through contributing to points of view, giving presentations at conferences and other speaking engagements – we want to be a leader in the field.



  • Education: Degree or equivalent experience and expertise in a related discipline such as business administration, information or data management, library & information sciences, etc.        
  • Significant experience establishing, developing and maintaining taxonomies in a global and complex organisation including an understanding of the theoretical principles of taxonomy architecture and experience adapting controlled vocabularies to meet specific organisational or business needs.
  • Office productivity software, including a significant level of experience with Microsoft Excel; experience with taxonomy management software such as Synaptica highly desirable.
  • Experience with multi-system integration.
  • Track record of scoping, set up and running projects in parallel, applying subject matter expertise in a complex, highly matrixed partner organisation with excellent relationship and influencing skills.
  • An attitude of getting things done with a focus on excellent customer service, responsiveness and positive attitude to problems.
  • Strong experience in improving processes, problem solving, requirements gathering, and converting complex information to communicate effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop a good understanding of the business and its strategy, and ensure this is conveyed via the taxonomy and search experience – responding clearly to business needs.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Track record of producing and maintaining clear, easy to follow documentation.
  • Experience working within a virtual team environment, overseeing offshore team members and indirect reports.
