DevOps Engineer –  London

 

A highly successful e-commerce group specialising in designer opticals retail seeks a talented and experienced DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to join our rapidly expanding development team, based in London (Shoreditch, near Liverpool Street Station).

 

You are required to have an operations background with good scripting abilities and an excellent knowledge of Linux, Windows, knowledge of cloud as well as having the skills to provide DevOps supports to the development team. This role will work alongside 1 other DevOps Engineer supporting a development team of circa 12 heads.

 

We use Agile software practices, Scrum specifically and two distinct technology stacks supporting multiple e-commerce solutions.


One stack is a co-managed C# .Net, IIS, MSSQL, HTML, Angular.js, JavaScript, and CSS Windows based stack.


The other technology stack has been developed on Linux Debian using Python, Django, PHP, MySql, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Celery, ElasticSearch, HTML, Angular.js, JavaScript, and CSS.  This stack is hosted from Amazon Web services.

 

You will be expected to take passionate ownership of maintenance and improvements to both our co-managed and AWS based infrastructure. You will be a team player who strives for the whole team to be successful above all. You will be a “can do” person, a natural at problem solving and you will welcome exploration of unfamiliar systems.

 

Objectives of the role:

  • To work as an integral member of a Scrum development team alongside another DevOps Engineer

  • To be co responsible for the design, support and maintenance of MyOptique Core & Glasses Direct systems

  • To be co responsible for the management and support of development and live MyOptique Core, Sunglasses Shop & Glasses Direct infrastructure

  • To be co responsible for the automated deployment process for infrastructure configuration and software releases.

  • To be co responsible for system monitoring and error logging to ensure a fault free environment.

  • To troubleshoot and prevent problems using monitoring technologies

  • To assist with the design, deployment and maintenance of new applications.

 

Skill Set Requirements:

  • DevOps - Linux - Debian - Ubuntu - Scripting - BASH - Cloud - AWS - Ngnix - Apache - MySQL - Cloud Formation - Puppet - Nagios - Jenkins - Networking - PHP - Python - .Net - IIS - MSSQL - Windows Server - Navision

  • Using your cloud (AWS preferred) skills you'll help design, develop & support the cloud-infrastructure

  • Ideally you will have 3+ years of Linux/infrastructure experience

  • Good understanding on the following technologies: Cloud, AWS, Linux, Puppet, Jenkins

  • Experience with Cloud Formation and Infrastructure as code

  • Solid scripting skills (BASH)

  • Experience of working in an Agile environment across multiple projects

  • An understanding of common web application architectures

  • Experience of configuring and managing Linux servers for serving a dynamic website

  • Experience of configuring and managing Windows servers for serving a dynamic website

  • Experience of debugging a complex multi-server service

  • Familiarity with network protocols
