Systems Integration (SI)

Systems Integration (SI) is one of the core Service Areas in Technology, providing clients with the advice and delivery support that they need in their complex technology programmes. Our services include Programme Management, Solutions Development & Integration (SD&I) and Testing.

 

Our Solutions Development & Integration (SD&I) team within Systems Integration (SI) is specifically focused on enabling clients to overcome complex systems integration challenges when delivering business driven, technology-enabled change across their organisation. Our specialists help clients in designing and implementing fully integrated solutions across the organization’s own walls, and with its external partners, suppliers, and customers. Our end-to-end solutions encompass technology, people and data; span across front, middle and back offices; and are focused on quality, governance and control. We cover all aspects of systems integration including digital solutions, package integration, custom development and infrastructure.

 

Systems Integration (SI) is poised for exciting times ahead, given our 2020 ambitions to further grow our delivery capability including into new markets, and help clients with the implementation of large scale end-to-end business transformation programmes. To achieve this, the Solution Development and Integration (SD&I) area is extending its portfolio to include new services, of which a key one is Bespoke Development.

 

The Bespoke Development team focuses on the delivery of custom developed applications for our clients across several industries. Our work encompasses both advisory and delivery services, and covers the end-to-end lifecycle of application architecture and development, including planning, requirements gathering, design, prototyping, code development, modularisation, testing, configuration and defect management, and production deployment. Development is completed in a variety of languages and platforms, including JAVA and .NET technologies​.

 

We are looking to grow this team and offer opportunities for exciting and innovative work with Clients across multiple sectors and with leading technologies, skills acquisition, professional knowledge growth, and overseas travel.

 

Our Bespoke Development Offering

We drive the analysis and design of software applications and systems then deliver and deploy custom developed applications. We help our clients in many different ways:

  • Application Design Services
  • Application Modernization
  • Cloud Application Development
  • Custom Application Development – Including .Net and J2EE
  • Application Architecture

 

The Senior Delivery Lead oversees the end-to-end vision, design and implementation of our solutions. They bring together multiple stakeholders to plan, execute and monitor Bespoke Development initiatives through to delivery, within the agreed timescales, budget and quality. This role requires a combination of management, consultancy and technical skills.

 

Location

 

The base location is London incl. Regions (Southwest, Northwest and Midlands) and Belfast. The role may involve travel, working in different areas of the UK, and potentially overseas.

Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Delivery Lead, you will have responsibility for:

  • Leading the delivery of small, medium and large scale and complex Bespoke Development solutions in a business driven, technology-enabled change environment
  • Delivery of Bespoke Development solutions with varying project durations and within the agreed timescales, budget and quality
  • Overseeing and providing direction to one or more Delivery Leads in:
    • Managing the full project lifecycle – from scoping, structuring, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling through to go-live / support
    • Identifying project responsibilities, assigning resources and tasks, managing risks and issues, managing quality assurance, status reviews and reporting, development of standards, benefits tracking, change control
    • Leading teams of varying sizes and diverse technical skills including business analysts, solution and application architects, developers, testers and subject matter experts to deliver Bespoke Development solutions
  • Working with stakeholders at all levels including senior stakeholders and across the Client, Deloitte and third parties, and geographical locations, as required
  • Additionally, as a Deloitte Senior Manager:
    • You can expect to be both technically and intellectually challenged. You will have responsibility for:
      • Planning and staffing engagements
      • Leading engagements or a portfolio of smaller engagements; size and fees vary by grade
      • Taking responsibility for client billing and cash collection
      • Creating, selling and delivering large scale engagements demonstrating a strong commercial awareness
    • You will also play a key role in the internal and market-facing growth of Delivery through leading development activities such as:
      • Developing new and sell-on sales opportunities by promoting Deloitte propositions, capabilities and maintaining on-going client relationships
      • Leading bids and manage the sales/negotiation process
      • Leading or playing a key role in co-ordinating an area of IT practice development (e.g. Training, Marketing, Communications or Recruitment)
      • Developing a personal contact network across Deloitte and in the marketplace
      • Supporting the career development of others and play a key role in team development activities
      • Supporting the continued growth of the business through contributing to the wider development of the practice (e.g. supporting the development of propositions, training, marketing, communications and recruitment activities)
      • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture

 

Requirements

 

We are looking for individuals that will embody Systems Integration at Deloitte Consulting - people who understand the connection between the business problem and the technology solution and have the professional and personal skills to make a real difference to our Clients.

 

Mandatory:

 

Technical

 

We expect you to have skills and experience in the following:

  • A minimum of 9 years of Programme / Project Management experience in a technology environment, including leading large complex technical projects with sizeable budgets
  • A proven track record of successfully leading teams in one or more of the following areas:
  • Technology Portfolio Management, Procurement of technology solutions or services
  • Managing multi-vendor and complex systems integration projects
  • Managing near-shore and off-shore teams within a technology programme
  • A minimum of 7 years of managing custom application development projects, ideally including one or more of the following areas:
  • Application Design Services
  • Application Modernization
  • Cloud Application Development
  • Custom Application Development - Including .Net and J2EE
  • Application Architecture
  • Code reviews and design reviews
  • Experience of managing initiatives involving one or more of the following technologies:
  • .NET (C#) and .NET framework application development
  • Scripting language (JS/ VBS/ JavaScript)
  • Application architecture or solution development with JEE(J2EE)
  • Software development using object-oriented languages
  • Project management / oversight of teams of varying sizes
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
  • Web services incl. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Methodologies such as Agile, SCRUM, Rational Unified Process (RUP)
  • Build and deployment process and tools
  • Good knowledge of PM & planning tools
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office Project to construct project plans and budgets
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Internal or external consultancy experience
  • Technical university degree
  • Recognised PM certification
  • Experience of managing initiatives involving one or more of the following:
  • DevOps
  • Database design
  • Responsive design, Performance tuning, Automated Build and deployment
  • Packaged software deployments
  • Tool based modernization, including code analysis, code conversion and automated testing tools

Additionally, we expect that you possess the following core consulting skills:

  • Comfortable leading technical conversations with clients at all levels, ideally including C-suite
  • Ability to develop strong client relationships
  • A strong focus on team working within diverse and remotely located teams
  • A "can do" attitude - Hands-on & flexible approach to emerging requirements and a real willingness to learn and participate
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), stakeholder management and people skills. Ability to articulate complex ideas to different audiences within an organisation, and effectively engage with stakeholders ranging from subject matter experts to senior functional leads
  • Strong documentation ability
  • Strong track record of prioritised planning to work within tight project planning constraints
  • Able to proactively identify risks and issues and provide mitigation approaches
  • Experience of working in fast-paced and demanding delivery-focused environments
  • Understanding and awareness of the commercial and reputational risks Deloitte may encounter and the appropriate mitigations
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the delivery of market leading solutions that make a difference
  • An ability to travel internationally and stay away from home for up to 5 days each week for specific durations of time based on defined programme needs or phases

 

All candidates must have full travel mobility and the right to live and work in the UK. A good graduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degree is preferred. Industry experience in one or more of the following will be an added advantage:
