Delivery Director – Immigration Platform Technologies (IPT)

£90000 - £95000
Salary Frequency

The Home Office is one of the UK’s most complex and data-rich organisations with significant public interest in its success. Operating in an acute and constantly changing political landscape, our mission is to keep Britain’s streets safe and its borders secure. In doing so, the Home Office is fast becoming one of the UK’s most sophisticated users of technology, preserving people’s freedoms and protecting citizens from terrorism through operational excellence, systems resilience, agility and our targeted use of customer insight. Business transformation and innovation are becoming part of our cultural DNA as we reset our approach to technology and exceptional new people are required to help execute our ambitious plans.

The Role: The IPT Programme is the primary strategic initiative within the Immigration Portfolio which by the end of 2018 will transform the ways of working for some 20,000 users across UK Visas & Immigration, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force. The £200million programme is a complex IT and business change programme which is being delivered by a mixed team of civil servants, suppliers and contractors. As we re-design our approach to delivering technology, this role presents an exciting opportunity to influence and shape how we deliver services in Government utilising the latest software delivery techniques and technologies and working with some of the most innovative technology vendors available.

We are delivering technology differently – the delivery framework has multiple application development suppliers collaborating to deliver software components in a continuous delivery environment. Fast paced and dynamic with an exciting and collaborative working environment, it is a truly Agile programme; the first for the Home Office and a leading pathfinder across government. The Delivery Director will be accountable for managing the delivery of a high profile, challenging and complex technology-enabled business transformation programme.
