What impact will you make? The Opportunity

This is a new role within Deloitte IT Services to lead the Resilience and Disaster Recovery testing process. As a key member of the ITS testing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a Disaster Recovery and Resilience test process for all ITS critical services. Working alongside a Resilience programme team, the candidate has an opportunity to help create and mature existing test processes against a Resilience framework that assures technology resilience through appropriate test strategies aligned to business criticality.

Role description

The Disaster Recover and Resilience Test Manager will be responsible for the test process and test governance of DR recovery testing and resilience testing of Deloitte technology services. They will assist and assure that technology teams adopt the right test strategies depending on business criticality and that are fully compliant with Business Continuity and Resilience policies.

Location

Whilst the majority of the team are based in and around London, this role will require you to meet and collaborate with colleagues based in offices across the UK and other North West European member firms. We are therefore open to discussions around which of our UK offices you could work out of.

Hours

This is a permanent role with occasional national and international travel, and an occasional need to be flexible on standard working hours. We do encourage careful consideration of agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. Responsibilities

  • Ensure that testing verifies recovery plans content, quality, comprehensiveness and ensuring that annual reviews are undertaken
  • Support and oversee technical testing of Disaster Recovery and Resilience testing
  • Report test results and exceptions to the DR Board and IT Risk Committee on compliance against test requirements
  • Ensure that lessons learnt and test issues are properly captured and actioned.
  • Review architectural designs during project phases for new IT Services and changes to current IT Services to ensure project and annual testing approaches are defined and compliant with Service Continuity control requirements
  • Provide governance of resilience testing executed by other teams
  • Take ownership of roadmap activity for increasing maturity of DR testing as well as being actively involved in maturing the test strategies used by IT (e.g. move to role swap technical approach)
  • Scheduling DR Exercises in liaison with IT Service Owners to ensure that the project and annual testing requirements are met
  • Providing IT SCM testing SME knowledge across the organisation
  • Agreeing scope of testing for DR Exercises to meet Service Tier requirements (user testing, capacity testing, RPO testing etc.)
  • Represent DR Exercises at Change Board
  • Providing governance to resolution of testing issues

Requirements

Essential:
  • Extensive DR and/or application resiliency test experience
  • A thorough knowledge of recovery planning and testing strategies for Disaster recovery, backup and resilience
  • Experience of coordination and planning tests across technical teams for both infrastructure and applications
  • Good Working knowledge of Windows platforms, SQL, Storage and Virtual Machines and Citrix environments
  • Thorough understanding of IT Service Management
  • Demonstrated ability in applying repeatable quality assurance process and methods to meet Disaster recovery objectives
  • Experience with test plan creation and estimation
  • ISEB Software Testing Foundation level certification is mandatory; Higher qualifications in this area are desirable
 
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Test Methodologies e.g. Agile, Waterfall, V-Model etc; Knowledge and use of Test Management tools such as HP ALM/Quality Centre, Jira & Test Rail
  • DRII (or equivalent) Business Continuity certification
 
Other:
  • Experience managing team members in offshore and near shore locations
  • Strong management, communication, technical and remote collaboration skills
  • Ability to coordinate across teams in a large matrix-organisation environment
