The Opportunity
Our Return to Work programme is open to anyone who’s taken a voluntary career break of two year or more. It’s designed to refresh your knowledge and skills, and boost your workplace confidence. Whatever you’ve been up to, we know it will have enriched who you are and what you can offer our clients and business. This is about giving you the time and support you need to readapt and get your career back on track.
The programme aims to encourage women back into the workplace, but is open to all. Over the course of the programme, you’ll benefit from group induction sessions, mentoring and project experience, and the chance to work within one of our service lines.
At the end of the programme you may have the opportunity to convert to a permanent role at Deloitte.
This is your opportunity to join our Technology practice as part of the Return to Work programme.
Our Technology Consulting practice brings together a team of experts to solve our clients’ business challenges, integrating the technology offerings of the wider firm.
From within our team, you will focus on helping our clients solve complex business problems involving the strategy, procurement, design, delivery and assurance of technology solutions.
We bring our experience and skills to bear in the most challenging and high profile technology projects. Our people are passionate about technology, whether they are developers with deep technical expertise or more general technology practitioners with keen strategy, management and business acumen. The breadth of our offerings means we have exciting opportunities for all types of technology practitioners.
For the programme, we have opportunities within the following areas of our Technology practice:
  • Deloitte Digital

  • Technology Strategy & Architecture
  • Analytics & Information Management
London (you will be required to travel to client site).  
Fixed term contract for 25 weeks on a part time basis ideally 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday.
In this role you will:
  • Support the delivery of client facing projects and programmes
  • Work with project teams to prepare client recommendations applying a combination of industry knowledge, tools, and technology, and prepare documents, presentations and other high quality outputs
  • Contribute to the development of our Human Capital propositions to support our clients
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals and bids
You will also bring with you experience in one or more of the following areas:

Deloitte Digital: Experience in innovating and implementing solutions to clients, digital strategy, user experience, content, creative, engineering and implementation across mobile, web and social media channels.  

We also continually look to play with new frameworks and design patterns that help us deliver solutions that excite our clients’ customers and allow us to deliver at incredible speeds. There are far too many to mention and we're continually adding to the list but here are some of the things we're using at the moment: Responsive Design, Progressive Enhancement, Native and Hybrid Mobile App Development, Single page applications, Web Components, Full stack JavaScript).
Financial Services Applications: Experience in supporting change programmes with a focus on application design and implementation and technology enablement. Systems such as: Murex, Mysis, Calypso, Guidewire, TIA, Xuber or other major core platform applications.
Exposure to insurance, finance and risk technology, specifically Oracle or SAP FS applications and / or reserving and capital platforms. Experience in the design and implementation of target operating models, business processes and change management plans as they relate to core insurance operations, Risk, Finance and Actuarial functions.

Technology Delivery: Experience in managing portfolios of technology projects and programmes, defining and delivering projects to select technology products or services or advising clients on building their in-house technology delivery capability, managing third party organisations or vendors within a technology programme. Experience in managing near-shore and off-shore teams within a technology programme as well as application design/application development and configuration. 

Technology Strategy & Architecture: Experience in developing strategies and implementing systems that drive business value and performance, systems replacements, full IT transformation. Producing and presenting reports, strategies, plans, designs, business cases and other client deliverables.
An understanding of emerging and innovative technologies, for example Cloud, and how to shape IT strategy and delivery in order to leverage those technologies. Familiarity with industry-recognised methodologies (e.g. CMMI, Lean, TOGAF)
Analytics & Information Management: Experience in data modelling or data architecture; experience of using data analytics and visualisations products such as: Tableau, SpotFire and Qlikview; experience of design architectures around traditional and non-traditional database and an understanding of data governance.

Experience with industry-standard tools and platforms is also desirable:

Data Quality & Cleansing e.g. Trillium, SAS, IBM & Informatica; Information Delivery & Data Federation e.g. SAP, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Informatica & Ab Initio; Data Repositories e.g. Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Netezza, DB2; MDM e.g. Oracle, Informatica MDM, IBM.


To be eligible for the programme, you must:

  • Have taken a voluntary career break of two years or more
  • Be interested in returning to work permanently
  • Have five or more years’ experience within professional services or industry
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be available to start on 18 September 2017 and be able to commit to the duration of the programme.
To be considered for one of our Technology roles, you will also:
  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of Technology and the function it performs in a business context
  • Have experience of working in a Technology environment, either in another consulting firm or in-house
  • Possess excellent facilitation, communication and data analysis skills and have a natural ability to influence others
  • Apply knowledge and expertise in a range of client scenarios,  focusing on high quality deliverables 
  • Demonstrate personal insight and good judgement when solving business issues
  • Have experience of managing client expectations and relationships, building on client and internal networks based on credibility and trust
  • Demonstrate an understanding of risk management, and how this is relevant to our work on a day to day basis
  • Be willing to work as part of a team, build relationships and contribute to the positive and supportive culture of the practice
