Role description
 
Using cutting edge technology, you’ll work alongside specialists drawn from a wide range of professional and technical backgrounds, to deliver technology platforms and analytics tools that collate, analyse and solve our clients’ most data intensive challenges, often arising from legal or commercial disputes.
 
Leading a small project team, we’ll rely on you to develop pioneering technical solutions to compliance and risk issues in the financial crime and regulatory fields, and provide specialist services to large and complex data-driven projects throughout the wider Firm. It’s a great role for an inquiring mind.
 
The Forensic Analytics team collates, reviews and analyses large and disparate datasets to detect issues and anomalies and report on its findings.  It designs and builds innovative solutions to compliance and risk issues in the financial crime and regulatory fields and provides specialist services to large and complex data-driven projects throughout the wider firm.

Location
 
You will be based in a Deloitte London office, however travel will be required for client based projects. We work across various industries – our clients are varied, and vary in location.
 
Hours
 
Core hours are 35 per week. This is a permanent role. We do encourage careful consideration of agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. Responsibilities
 
As a Senior Associate / Assistant Manager you will have responsibility for:
  • Working with clients and other project stakeholders to understand their requirements
  • Delivering analytical work, either individually or leading a small team of junior colleagues
  • Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of your work by performing tests and preparing quality control documentation
  • Using your experience to identify and propose new solutions to client problems and assist with developing them
  • Working/work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

 

Requirements
 
We need bright people with a novel and sophisticated analytical and technology-driven approach. You will ideally have experience working on projects for external clients or customers and you will enjoy motivating and sharing knowledge with junior team members to further develop their skills.  In return for your continued success, interest and commitment, we will provide you with a variety of challenges, a comprehensive training program and a structured career path.
 
To be considered, you must have:
  • The ability to independently query, manipulate, analyse and interpret data
  • A desire to understand business problems and to evaluate the results of your work in a business context
  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience, ideally acquired in a technical or quantitative discipline
  • Proven quantitative, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • The ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • The availability and willingness to work abroad
 
Technical skills:
 
Recent experience in SQL to at least intermediate level, and significant experience in at least one of the following areas is essential:
  • Data analysis experience including use of relevant software (e.g. R, VBA, Hadoop, Hive, Neo4J, i2, ibase)
  • Database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server preferred)
  • Data loading and BI/ETL solutions (Microsoft SSIS preferred)
  • Reporting and data visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, Qlikview)
  • Scripting or programming experience (e.g. C#, VB.net, Java, Python)
  • Experience of text analytics through use of taxonomies, concept searching, machine learning or clustering
  • The following will be considered an advantage:
  • Relevant postgraduate or professional qualifications
  • Experience working on projects for external clients
  • Understanding of the financial services industry
