What impact will you make? The Opportunity

Consultants in the team collaborate to support the delivery of large scale technology-lead solutions (or technology-led solutions) for our clients Tax needs. They will have responsibility for key tasks, projects and initiatives whilst working collaboratively with the wider Tax Management Consulting team, and being a liaison with group, internally and externally. As a consultant, you will utilise your commercial awareness and professional expertise, along with leveraging that of other teams in order to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.
 
A key part of the Consultant role is development, both in growing your own skills and experience, as well as being a mentor for junior staff within the team and the wider firm. Our Consultants are either people managers or act as coaches and role models to the Analysts in their team. You will be a team player and will enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise with others, as well as continuing to build your own technical expertise or specialism. 
 

Role description

The position works with Associate Directors, Directors, Partners and our clients to build frameworks and models capable of automating our client’s tax processes. The position will require exceptional problem solving skills, and a deep knowledge of spreadsheet and/or automation technologies.  You will use your commercial awareness and professional expertise, along with leveraging the skills and expertise of others, to deliver the best possible experience and outcomes for our clients. Technical skill capability is just one facet of this opportunity, you will need to leverage our communication and stakeholder management experience to understand current processes and the background to their development. This role will provide opportunities for innovation and creativity with regards to designing new, unique ways of turning your client’s tax processes into efficient, automated systems. Please note that we do not believe previous Tax experience will be required.

Location 

You will be based in a Deloitte London office, however some travel will be required for client based projects. Whilst most clients are London based, some time will be spent off-site with regional and international clients.

This is a permanent role with a degree of flexibility. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and clients to understand business problem being addressed by the project or client engagement.
  • Review processes from a risk, controls and best practice perspective and suggest and implement recommendations
  • Develop advanced spreadsheet models and/or automation solutions
  • Create unit test plans and scenarios for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of VBA and/or automation applications.
  • Prepare technical design, functional and technical requirement documents.
  • Support functional team members on system and UAT testing.

Requirements

  • Experience in programming in VBA, C# or automation technologies e.g. BluePrism, UIPath, AA etc
  • Experience in translating business requirements from users into automation solutions
  • Prior experience working within in a large, matrixed organisation and energised by working in a sometimes fast paced and deadline orientated environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including some experience of advanced functions such as INDEX MATCH, INDIRECT and array formulae.
  • Experience working in Tax is not a requirement for the role.
