Role description
 
Risk.Cloud operates within the Risk Advisory part of the Deloitte business, a £250m part of Deloitte in the UK.  Risk.Cloud is designed to provide technology based managed services and solutions to our clients in areas ranging from regulatory compliance and operational management to consumer facing mobile apps
 
Risk.Cloud comprises a technology stack based around OutSystems for low code solution development, Qlik for complex visualisations and Informatica for data acquisition, amongst others.
This role is about enhancing our cloud capabilities to support new and existing solutions. The role will primarily be as a cloud engineer, but with strong cloud and platform architecture skills.  There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work with teams around each solution, based across the country. Occasional travel to London, and possible other locations, to meet with solution teams will arise from time to time.

Responsibilities
 
In relation to the development of solutions typical tasks will include:
  • Participating in the technical architecture of solutions
  • Development of web applications and the underlying infrastructures
  • Supporting other teams within the business to develop advanced functionality for applications
  • Participating in the testing of these solutions
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications when the immediate team is not able to
  • At times you may be required to travel to the London Office or client sites to participate in the design and planning of solutions
 
And in relation to cloud and platform engineering:
  • Architecting solutions and supporting their development predominantly on AWS
  • Strong experience with AWS and Azure
  • Designing reusable templates for rapidly deploying infrastructure
  • Strong technical experience building Windows and Linux servers
 
Requirements
 
We are seeking a person with exceptional engineering and architectural capabilities, who can augment our rapidly growing Risk.Cloud team. Risk.Cloud is the name for Deloitte’s Solutions Platform, a platform that is supported by our Centre of Excellence based in Cardiff.
 

In order to reach your future potential in this role you will require the following skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or an engineering related discipline
  • Strong skills in solution architecture
  • Strong skills working with Windows / Linux servers
  • Strong skills developing on AWS, for example:
  • CloudFormation / CloudTrail / CloudWatch
  • EC2 / RDS
  • VPC / Route53 / VPN
  • Active Directory / MFA / SSO
  • Strong skills in the following development technologies:
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • OutSystems (Not essential, training will be provided)
  • Python / PHP / .NET
  • SQL
 

As well as:

  • The ability to work on your own initiative and in many different and challenging environments.
  • Individuals should be enthusiastic and have evidence of a flair for problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Strong planning, organisation and people management skills.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability work in a team
