A highly successful e-commerce group specialising in designer opticals retail seeks a talented and experienced Hybris PIM, Java/Groovy Developer with to join our rapidly expanding development and support team located in Swindon. We are open to flexible working opportunities.


The successful candidate will have the right blend of skills and attitude to become a successful new team member, joining a passionate development and support team who really care about delivering a range of high quality products to a growing global customer base.


The Hybris PIM sits alongside and integrates with our main order management and fulfilment engine which is developed in house.  The Hybris PIM utilizes Groovy scripts, a Solr database and AMQP to interface with the surrounding systems and share products data with the entire MyOptique Group brand portfolio.


Objectives of the role:

  • To be responsible for the development and support of the MyOptique Group implementation of Hybris PIM.

  • Develop great understanding of how Hybris PIM is used within the MyOptique Group and what it needs to deliver.

  • Build relationships with users of the system, understand their issues and ensure that Hybris PIM is used to maximum efficiency developing new features as necessary. Get the users to love Hybris.

  • Maintain strong links and communication with the rest of the development team to ensure work in Hybris PIM integrates smoothly with rest of system and infrastructure.

  • To be an active team member contributing to the Technology team as a whole.

  • To respond to and resolve production issue reports


Skill Set Requirements:

  • Experience with working as a developer with Hybris, specifically the Product Information Manager (PIM)

  • Experience with Java and Groovy programming

  • Experience working with Linux based operating systems

  • You will be a “can do” person, a natural at problem solving and you will welcome exploration of unfamiliar systems.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and explain things to both technical and non technical colleagues, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to learn new technologies and software quickly

  • Passionate about software development

  • Experience in application and web development

  • Knowledge of HTML5/CSS3/JS/JQuery/React.js



Desirable but not essential skill sets would be:

  • Relevant Bachelors’ degree or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience with SOA, web services and message queues

  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services

  • Warehouse / delivery eCommerce experience

  • Working git knowledge

  • Good understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, TDD, CI, BDD, CD

  • Experience developing in Python (and Django)

  • Embrace agile software engineering and strive for continuous improvement
